Plenty of shopping, great views and restaurants galore. Our favorite restaurants include: The Thistle Inn for fine dining and craft cocktails, Boathouse Bistro for rooftop views of the harbor, Tugboat Inn for more beautiful views, The Whale's Tail as a cozy whaling pub, and more!
A Braun family favorite since the 1990's. And the groom's favorite too! It's the only course the bride can beat the groom at mini golf, depending on the day!
A classic old-fashioned ice cream parlor (with some updated trendy things like a neon sign that the bride isn't wild about) with over 65 homemade flavors. Not only is it the best ice cream you will EVER eat, Sarah used to set up shop at the mini table and chair set with her Madeline doll. If you miss going there in your free time - there will be flavors to choose from at the reception for dessert.
Newly re-branded as Maine Pottery Company, this was Sarah's summer job for the whole of summer 2011 and a couple weeks in summer 2012. She enjoyed falling in love with the one-of-a-kind pottery pieces, memorizing the other artists' glass, jewelry, sculpture and more; all while individually helping customers choose gifts or keepsakes from their Boothbay travels. It would bring the bride such joy if you find something to cherish and take home from here too. Though a lot of the pottery is being moved to Portland and Portsmouth locations since this location is becoming an art collective - there still are some pottery pieces at Edgecomb! Don't forget to visit the little red school house and learn the history of how the family-owned company began in 1977, by the Hilton couple, right there in the building where they started with no electricity or water!
"I love Ocean Point" says it all. The most picturesque place in all the region and our absolute favorite place. If there is one place I couldn't recommend enough - it's Ocean Point. Pack a picnic, take a walk, take in the sights, and if you're brave enough: take a dip at Grimes Cove.
Another great spot for a picnic, reading a book, exploring tide pools, taking the dog for a walk, throwing a frisbee, or taking in a sunny day. The Braun's family dog used to love Barrett's Park - shout out to Jack <3
A rocky-sandy beach with a lighthouse and a large climbing rock. Plenty of tide pools and pretty refreshing (aka chilly) water to swim in. Good place to kayak! Also another place that the Braun's dog loved.
The warmest place to swim because it's a lake and not river or ocean. The entrance is a dirt road off of 79 Barter's Island Road.
Great hiking loop trails! There's a longer and shorter route. There are plenty of hiking opportunities all over the peninsula of the Boothbay region: https://bbrlt.org/trails/ But Oven's Mouth is one of our favorites.
Great for adults and kids (Sarah says don't miss the fairy forts) - A local and tourist fan favorite! This botanical garden has grown over the years that the Braun's have lived in Boothbay. It's also known for it's award winning Gardens-a-glow Christmas light display.
If you're here for an extended stay, check out who is playing at the Opera House (concerts)
A fairly new (2010, so I guess not as new as it feels - but the older you get the more time seems to fly...) brewery in town with outdoor seating and cozy, rustic vibes. Also has RV with full hookups available if you're coming to Boothbay by RV or van.
An even newer (2019) brewery, right in town!
A great place for kids!
Great for the kids!
