FAQs

We love planning and preparing for our big day! It brings us joy knowing we are closer to joining our lives with each passing day, but it is a lot of work. Thank you for helping us make things run smoothly by taking the time to brush up on some frequently asked questions. Tip: This website is full of little Easter eggs about us. The more you pay attention, the more likely you'll excel on trivia at the wedding and go home with a prize. Hint: Don't miss the notes on the gifts page, when viewing each option.
Question

Why does the venue say permanently closed on Google? Is the wedding still on?

Answer

Yes!!! We are so looking forward to our wedding, but we will be one of the last couples to get married here as the owners of this venue are retiring. For business purposes, they needed to update their closure on Google, but the weddings already booked with them are still on.

Question

I'm not sure about my schedule. When should I RSVP?

Answer

RSVPs are so important for weddings. It helps us finish our planning with our venue, the final head count with caterer, and determines our table and chair set up, so we ask that you let us know as soon as possible, but if you truly need more time than the due date, just communicate this directly with either Randi or Brandon and we'll make a note. Please try your best to RSVP by September 6th. We need to update our caterer and begin working on table assignments. However, there is still some wiggle room, so if you need more time, just tell us and we'll check back in with you right before we finalize our numbers. We want you to be there if you can, but once the tables have been assigned it might be too late. We will double check our guest list before the cut off day.

Question

Can I bring a guest?

Answer

When you go to the RSVP page and enter your name, you should see everyone assigned to your party and you may rsvp for all of them. We have carefully considered children and significant others to be included in your party, but if you are a single guest and have a significant other that we missed, please contact us to see if there is room. Otherwise, assume that only those assigned to your party can be accommodated.

Question

What is garden attire - What colors should I wear?

Answer

Wear clothes that you would be comfortable wearing outdoors for about an hour depending on the weather. Nice church clothes are dressy enough. Consider wearing layers so that if it is slightly chilly you are warm, but that if it's a warmer day, you can remove a layer. No need to color coordinate, but if you're curious, the wedding theme is rustic Fall with natural looking white and green pumpkins, succulents, and rosy/purple colors ranging from eggplant, burgundy, mauve, sangria, and blush with gold accents. Think deep jewel tones mixed with lighter accents. Although it is Fall themed, there are no orangey colors. Brandon is wearing a navy suit with a blush colored tie and Phoebe will be wearing a sangria colored dress. Randi's matron of honor, Lauren, will be wearing a vintage mauve colored dress.

Question

How should I plan for the weather?

Answer

Although the Amarillo/Canyon area weather is notoriously unpredictable, it is historically pleasant this time of year, with the high temperature usually reaching 80 degrees, and the low around 53 degrees. However, it is not unheard of to have highs in the upper 80's this late in the year. We tend to be dry most of the year, but could have a slight chance of rain. We are almost always breezy in this area, so expect some wind. Thankfully, the garden area is shaded and protected from wind with several trees. Sunset is at 7:44pm on this date.

Question

Where should I park when I arrive?

Answer

Country Home Weddings has a private parking lot with plenty of space directly in front of the reception barn and adjacent to the garden. Look for the arched sign that says "Country Home" on it. Enter here.

Question

What is an unplugged ceremony?

Answer

All this means is that we prefer for you to take in the moment with us during the ceremony. Please silence your phones during the ceremony and refrain from taking photos or videos with your phones or cameras. We have hired a photographer and videographer to take care of these things. However, during the reception, we encourage you to capture as many photos as you like and we'd love it if you'd share your photos/videos with us later.

Question

Where should I sit?

Answer

Weather permitting, the ceremony will be held in the garden that will be sprayed with organic pesticide before the event. Otherwise we will be set up inside the reception hall. During the ceremony, we will have a reserved section for families, honored guests, and the bridal party. Ushers will seat you as you arrive. For dinner, we will have assigned tables to help ensure that people will be able to sit with their families, close friends, or at least near someone that we know you'll have a common connection. It is very important to us to make sure you get to sit with people you know and like. Seats are not assigned, only tables.

Question

Is this wedding kid friendly?

Answer

Yes! There will be plenty of activities to keep kids entertained throughout the night and we have several fun gifts packs for them to enjoy at the reception. Although older kids should be able to entertain themselves, please make sure to check on them occasionally if they're outdoors, and keep an eye on your little ones. If you anticipate having a antsy/noisy child during the ceremony, which should take approximately 20 -30 minutes, we kindly ask that you sit near an aisle in the back to be able to excuse yourself easily without disrupting the ceremony. Tammy, from the wedding venue, should be nearby to direct you to a place that won't distract others.

Question

Is there assigned seating?

Answer

Tables will be assigned, but seating will not. Once we have a final head count, we will put the final touches on table assignments. We want you to sit near people you know and like and will take this into account.

Question

What's for dinner?

Answer

Chicken or beef fajitas with whatever toppings you prefer, and beef or cheese enchiladas. There will also be chips, hot sauce, tortillas, rice, beans, cheese, pico de gallo, sour cream, and guacamole.

Question

What's for dessert?

Answer

There will be cheesecake, a layered cake of chocolate/mousse/cheesecake, and another wedding cake option, as well as a variety of sweet treats.

Question

What's to drink?

Answer

Sweet and unsweet tea, water, a variety of canned sodas.

Question

Will alcohol be served at the reception?

Answer

No.

Question

When is the reception over - Can I leave early?

Answer

The reception will end at 10:30pm with a sparkler send off. We hope all of our guests will stay to the end to see us off. Once guests start leaving, the party can die too soon. We hope you'll plan to enjoy the evening that we worked so hard to prepare, but if it is necessary to leave early, we understand. We'd rather you leave early than not come at all. We are honored to have all of our guests come share in this special day with us, but we know we will not get a chance to say goodbye if you leave early. The best way to make sure you get to tell us goodbye is by staying for the sparkler send off. Otherwise, please reach out via text or social media in the next couple of weeks. We will be anxious to hear from you to hear your thoughts and relive that day through your eyes.

Question

What activities will be available during the reception?

Answer

Dancing, dancing, dancing! In addition we will have a photo backdrop for you to take polaroid type pictures with friends and to sign our photo guest book. For the kids: We will have a variety of small craft items and games for them to play with, as well as bean bag toss and possibly some outdoor games.

Question

What is a photo guest book?

Answer

Guests take selfies with our insta-camera and print instant polaroid type photos, then place your picture in our guest book with the sticker photo corners. Next write us a little note and sign your names!

Question

What amenities are available?

Answer

We have put together refresh kits for bathrooms with a variety of amenities so that our guests are not uncomfortable because of a simple problem to fix: We have mouthwash, floss, mints, bandaids, pain reliever, feminine products, sewing kits, body wipes, deodorant, combs, tweezers, nail clippers, allergy medicine, Tums, blister prevention, etc. In addition, if you forgot comfortable dancing shoes, we have a basket of brand new sock booties you can wear to dance and just keep them when you go home. No excuses - Get out and groove on the dance floor!

Question

Who gets the centerpieces?

Answer

We have reserved some centerpieces to be given to honored guests, but we will also be giving some of them as prizes. Get your game face on!

Question

Where will the newlyweds live?

Answer

Brandon and the kids live in Lubbock, so Randi will be moving there. She is keeping her home in Amarillo for now and plans to get it ready to rent out soon after she moves, but she will come to Amarillo to visit and maintain the house as often as needed.
