After we each had experienced heartbreak, we both decided to move forward and trust that God had good plans for us, so we created dating profiles on Match.com. Brandon saw my profile after it was online only 2 days. He read my profile and decided he had to message me because I was so specific about who I was and what I wanted. My shy guy boldly sent a smiley face to my inbox. Ha-ha! Although I didn't usually respond to the majority of the messages sent my way, when I read Brandon's profile, I didn't find any deal-breakers and discovered a reasonable amount of effort displayed in his profile, so I sent an upside-down smiley face in return. We messaged back and forth a bit and I got straight to the point and asked the important questions. I wasn't interested in wasting each other's time. I noticed immediately how tuned in Brandon was to my questions. He gave so much thought and effort to his replies. Although we were tentative about putting ourselves out there again, we connected and related to each other effortlessly. Soon we began having phone conversations that lasted hours into the night. Over time, we became really good friends before we ever met in person and we helped each other heal from heartbreak with patience, empathy, and a willingness to truly understand and know each other. With God's hand guiding every step, we have overcome the challenges of a long distance relationship along with the many complications of trying to be able to finally join our lives together, all the while developing a deep trust and connection that has been the sweetest gift we've ever known.
