Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Lauren Winterhalder and Nicholas Bode

Walk the Historic City Centre

San Miguel’s charm comes from walking its hilly, cobblestone streets lined with beautiful colonial architecture and impressive churches. The Parroquia is a can’t miss (literally; it is visible from almost everywhere in the city), and the main square surrounding it is always lively. You should also take a stroll through Parque Benito Juarez, and stop to take a photo along the picturesque streets connecting the Parque to the central plaza. It's the perfect city for spontaneous discovery — often art galleries, lush courtyards, and boutique stores are waiting to be found behind the unassuming doors of old buildings. (Pro-tip: The streets can be hilly and uneven, so pack comfortable footwear.)

Get Drinks at a Rooftop Bar

San Miguel is famous for its abundant rooftop restaurants and bars offerings sweeping views over the city and the surrounding landscape. Our favorite spots are: • Luna Rooftop Tapas Bar at the Rosewood Hotel (the most well-known rooftop bar in town) rosewoodhotels.com/en/san-miguel-de-allende • Tunki (make reservations in advance) belmond.com/hotels/north-america/mexico/san-miguel-de-allende/belmond-casa-de-sierra-nevada/ • Antonia Bistro (maybe the best view in town) antoniabistro.com

Eat Mexican Food

Our favorite spots are: • Hecho en Mexico hechoenmexicosma.com • The Restaurant therestaurantsanmiguel.com • Tostévere https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g151932-d15245543-Reviews-Tostevere-San_Miguel_de_Allende_Central_Mexico_and_Gulf_Coast.html • Trazo 1810 casa1810.com/centro/trazo/

Explore Mexico City

For those arriving early or staying late, we can’t recommend time in Mexico City enough. A global city with some of the worlds’ best food and nightlife, it should be a must-visit on any travelers’ bucket list. Our top recommendations are the Zόcalo, Chapultepec Castle and a daytrip to Teotihuacán. We also highly recommend a Taco & Mezcal bar-crawl ending at a Lucha Libre fight. If you are visiting Mexico City, you should plan on either flying into or out of Mexico City International Airport.

Explore Guanajuato City

For those looking to get off the beaten path, a trip to Guanajuato City is certainly worth it. Perched in a narrow canyon, the city boasts distinctive winding streets and features amazing colonial architecture. It offers all the old-world charm of San Miguel without the Americans. Guanajuato City is conveniently located 30 mins from BJX airport.
