We're Getting Married!

Sofia and Michael met in 2022 while studying in the same master’s program in Rome, Italy -- a city that quickly became the backdrop for the beginning of their story. They became close friends almost immediately, spending their days exploring the city, laughing nonstop, and growing closer with every shared adventure (like a trip to Barcelona planned ~48 hours before their flight). Michael’s first impression of Sofia was her big, beautiful smile and her goofy charm. After the first day of class, Sofia remembers telling her friends that she thought Michael was the cutest guy in their program. Michael insists that Sofia made the first move when she took his hat and threw it across the room mid-conversation one day, while Sofia first got the hint he might like her when he quite literally carried Sofia around Rome on his back when she broke her ankle. When Michael finally shared his feelings three months into their friendship, their love story began. Their first date was straight out of a movie: dinner in Rome followed by drinks beside the Trevi Fountain. From the very beginning, being together felt easy. Sofia was drawn to Michael’s humor, adventurous spirit, and deep love for his family. Michael immediately loved how caring, funny, and smart Sofia is. What stood out most to both of them was how natural their connection felt. Their relationship has since taken them across countries and states, through long distance, uncertainty, and many new chapters. Through every challenge, they’ve chosen each other daily, learning patience, commitment, and what it truly means to grow together. They share a passion for traveling, a matching sense of humor, a deep love for their nieces and nephew, and an obsession with their pets, Rory and Sookie. Michael proposed in a cabana on the beach in Cabo, surrounded by Sofia’s family. As they look ahead, Sofia and Michael are most excited to build a home and a family together.
