We got engaged on a Tuesday in May on beautiful Coronado Island. Just a few days earlier, I had accepted a new job opportunity, and to celebrate, Jake said he wanted to take me out to dinner the next week at a “surprise" location. We chose Tuesday for our date night as I did not have any events that evening and would be off of work earlier than usual. At the time, I was simply excited for a celebratory dinner and did not suspect a thing. Tuesday came, and as we started driving over the Coronado Bridge, I was excited to see that we were headed to one of my favorite parts of San Diego for dinner! But I clearly had no idea what was going on. Once we crossed into Coronado, Jake pulled over and casually checked the time. He said we had arrived earlier than expected and had some time to kill before our dinner reservation. He suggested we take a walk on the beach just in front of where we parked. As soon as we stepped onto the sand, I saw a beautiful set up with white roses (my favorite flower) and it hit me. IT WAS HAPPENING!!! Props to Jake for pulling off a total surprise…especially for a girl who plans celebrations for a living!
