David and Moraya met through their mutual friend Zachary. It was when she was sitting in his kitchen, watching David put on his gear, that she started to feel a fluttering in her heart. Moraya was raised by her single father during her adolescent years — a man obsessed with all things motor sports. She spent much of her childhood at sport bike races, cheering on her dad from the sidelines, and riding dirt bikes during the summers. When David pulled on his classic bright orange Klim jersey — something he always wears on adventures — the nostalgia hit her hard. It wasn’t just the gear or the color. It was the feeling. For the first time in a long time, it felt like home. After a laugh-filled lunch and an unplanned act of kindness toward some veterans, they hit the mountain. Riding through the snow, with David’s running commentary and the snowmobile engine roaring, something clicked. When they stopped at the top, cracked open a couple beers, and took in the view, Moraya realized she had probably loved David all along. Instead of Moraya heading back to the city to celebrate her birthday with friends, she stayed — snow, hot tub, and one more drink — and the rest is history.
