Although their paths were bound to be crossed through multiple mutual friends, Steve and Becca expedited their meet-cute and officially met on the popular dating website called Bumble, which requires the female to initiate conversations. With enough bad jokes, Steve convinced Becca to give him a chance, and Becca trusted that his fire department gave him a thorough background check when they hired him, so she said “sure.” Their first date would be an ultimate test of trust and sandbagging as they made plans to meet at the local climbing gym. No one dropped to the ground, dinner and drinks followed, and Becca and Steve found a common love for the outdoors in each other that sparked a fire for the adventures that laid ahead. 7 years, a camper van, mountain home, one beautiful dog, and two cats later, they have created a life seeking new adventure and fostering memories with close friends. From skiing a 5 foot wide couloir in the dark (that only one of them even wanted to do, and it wasn’t Steve) to peddling through their Colorado backyard on their bikes with Max, to comforting each other after a grueling shift, Steve and Becca have created a safe space within each other to create love, growth, and a healthy budget for outdoor gear. Becca, an ER and critical care nurse, and Steve, a firefighter paramedic, share a unique bond through the traumatic, rewarding, and sometimes weird work that they both do every single day. They lean on each other and share moments from their shifts to decompress, and encourage each other to excel in their careers.
