Local Recommendations

We can't wait to share our region with everyone and for you to fall in love with it like we have 😊 Below you will find our neighborhood guide for those planning to stay in Seattle for the weekend including where we'd suggest making your home base and where we'd suggest just visiting. Consider getting a City Pass (often available on Groupon) if you're looking for an affordable way to visit more of Seattle's top tourist attractions. For those planning to stay out near the venue, we've also added a few sights and points of interest for you to the map, so be sure to take a look!

Wherever you choose to stay, the region has a ton to offer. To help ensure that no matter where your weekend takes you, you'll be sure to find something great, we've put together this map of our favorite places all easily accessible from Seattle or Gold Bar. We'll be continuing to add locations up until the wedding, so be sure to check back closer to! If you'll be extending your trip to explore more of the PNW, please let us know! We'd be happy to provide more recommendations unique to your trip.

If you're planning to stay in the city, these are the neighborhoods we'd most suggest! Please note, Uber and Lyft prices in the city of Seattle are $$$ so keep that in mind when choosing your home base for the weekend.

Amazonia/Seattle Center

The neighborhoods of Uptown, Lower Queen Anne, Westlake, and South Lake Union all make up the more modern part of downtown. Here you'll find plenty of hotel options, enjoy views of Lake Union and the Space Needle, and be able to walk home from our shuttle stop!

Beacon Hill/Columbia City

We live in North Beacon Hill (so we're a little biased), but you really can get most places from here very easily and the restaurants are reputably some of the best in the city. Nearby Columbia City is a little quieter, but also off of the light rail and is one of the most diverse zip codes in the nation giving it many different businesses to explore!

Capitol Hill

Very centrally located, tons of things to do, and plenty of opportunity to let your freak flag fly; it's impossible to be bored in this neighborhood. If you're looking for the Grunge or LGBTQIA+ centers of Seattle, look no further than Capitol Hill. Not recommended for families, but perfect for those that are the life of the party!

Fremont/Wallingford

A quick bus ride from the heart of the city, these neighborhoods are great for those who want to be close to the action but also enjoy a bit more room. Lots of outdoor spaces, family-friendly activities, and very walkable. Fremont is the hippie hub of the city, hosting a large arts market on Sundays and some very kooky statues.

Green Lake/Roosevelt

These neighborhoods have an urban-suburban mix feel and are known for their community spirit, walkability, and access to parks, restaurants, and shops. They're particularly popular with athletes as there's a 2.8-mile path around Green Lake itself which provides a scenic place to conduct your workout. The bus line options and Roosevelt light rail stop make it easy to access downtown Seattle from this area.

West Seattle

Imagine you were transported to a small beach town but you never left the city, that's West Seattle for you. Welcome to the birthplace of Sub Pop Records! The boardwalk at Alki Beach is home to volleyball tournaments and gorgeous sunsets, also popular areas are the Alaska Junction and Admiral District. All are full of great shops and only a water taxi or RapidRide C-Line Bus ride away from town.

- Just for a Visit -

The below neighborhoods are not places we'd recommend staying for the wedding weekend, but are absolutely worth a visit during the day!

A Ferry Ride Away

What's more unique to Seattle than commuting via ferry? Bainbridge and Vashon Islands are pretty easy day trips on foot, by bike, or by car. If you plan to extend your trip to visit the Olympic Peninsula, we highly recommend it! It's just a trek and half to get to our wedding venue from here.

Central Business District

As much as we love seeing fish fly at Pike Place Market, exploring the history of Seattle in Pioneer Square, eating literally anything in the International District, and watching the M's play in SODO, these areas are a blast during the day and can become a tad sketchy at night.

Georgetown

Georgetown is the city's oldest neighborhood! It is the birthplace of Seattle's beer industry, has a lively arts scene, and is home to great bars, restaurants and shops to wander through. Unfortunately it's not really close to anything else, so would be tough to make your home base for the weekend.

NW Seattle

We love spending time in Ballard, Greenwood, and Phinney Ridge! You could honestly spend your whole weekend roaming all that these neighborhoods have to offer and barely scratch the surface. However, they're pretty secluded from the rest of the city and especially difficult to get to if you don't have a car.
