Merida’s Cultural Scene
The city is full of vibrant markets, museums, and art galleries that’ll make you feel like you’re stepping into a living piece of history. Stroll around the Plaza Principal (Main Square), check out the Museo Casa de Montejo, or catch a traditional Mayan dance performance at Parque Principal.
Centro Historico
Centro de Mérida is a MUST see. There are so many colorful homes, vintage cantinas, beautiful colonial architecture, restaurants, parks, and more.
Chichen Itza (Mayan Ruins)
You can’t visit the Yucatán without seeing the iconic Chichen Itza! This UNESCO World Heritage site is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. It’s an awe-inspiring ancient Mayan city, and trust us, you’ll want to snap a few photos in front of the famous El Castillo pyramid (aka the Temple of Kukulkán).
Cenotes (Underground Swimming Pools)
You’ve got to take a dip in one of the magical cenotes—natural swimming holes inside underground caves with crystal-clear water. A few nearby options include Cenote Ik Kil and Cenote Xkeken. Dive in and discover a whole new world below ground. (Tip: Bring water shoes for slippery rocks!)
