We met at one of our favorite places in Philadelphia, a jazz bar called "Time". It was funny because even though it was our go-to spot, we had never crossed paths until that night. I usually went later in the evening, while he was more of a happy-hour kind of guy. On this particular evening, I decided to go a little earlier than usual. From across the bar, he sent me and my friend Tiffany a round of lemon drop shots which, if you know us, was hilarious considering we were both sipping on bourbon at the time! But we graciously accepted the drink and thought, "Well, that’s a gentleman move!" When it was time for him to leave, he casually walked toward the door without saying a word, but my friend Corey (who he assumed was my boyfriend) stopped him. Suddenly, we were all chatting, and he handed me his business card something I genuinely thought was a joke at the time! But to my surprise, we ended up exchanging numbers. Later in the night we met up again with friends at the W bar, and from that moment on, we’ve been inseparable. A few weeks into dating, I realized this wasn’t like any relationship I’d ever been in before. So, in what seemed like a leap of faith (and maybe a little crazy), I invited him to my friend Genée's wedding near Merida, Mexico. I wasn’t sure what he’d say it was only our fifth date, and I was asking him to join me for a whole week in a foreign country! But to my surprise, he said *yes* and that week turned out to be magical. At times, I wasn’t sure if I was just swept up in the wedding bliss of her wedding or if this was the real deal. But a week after returning to the States, he asked me to be his girlfriend. It was the second-easiest *yes* I’d ever said… the first being when he asked me to marry him! When it came time to choose the perfect place for our wedding Merida, Mexico was the obvious choice, it’s where our story began.
