FAQs

Here are some questions you might consider when planning your trip:
Question

When is the wedding?

Answer

We’re getting married on Saturday, February 7th, 2026, in Mérida, Mexico! Festivities will take place between February 5th & February 8th so come ready to celebrate with us. Feel free to travel earlier in the week or stay later!

Question

When should I arrive in Mérida?

Answer

We recommend arriving by Thursday, February 5th to settle in and join us for welcome events. The main celebration is on Saturday, and we'll also have a farewell gathering on Sunday for those staying a bit longer.

Question

Do I need a passport?

Answer

Yes! All guests traveling from outside Mexico will need a valid passport. Please double check the expiration date on yours and renew it if needed.

Question

What airport should I fly into?

Answer

Mérida International Airport (MID) is the closest and most convenient option. It's about 15-20 minutes from the city center.

Question

Is Mérida safe?

Answer

Yes! Mérida is considered the safest city in México. According to the U.S. State Department, they suggest exercising normal precautions when traveling to the Yucatán state, which is the state where Mérida is located!

Question

Will transportation be provided?

Answer

We’ll provide transportation to and from the wedding venue to the Hilton hotel. More details will be shared closer to the big day.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

We’ve organized a hotel group code at the Hilton hotel in Mérida’s historic center. You are free to stay somewhere else. You can find those details on the “Travel” page of our website.

Question

Should I only stay in Mérida?

Answer

Besides staying nearby for the wedding, we encourage you to explore the Yucatán peninsula! You can go on different excursions and/or travel to Cancún, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, or any other of the beautiful places around the península. Additionally, México city is a short flight away. You can always spend a couple of days there before or after traveling to Mérida. Although Mérida is where we are getting married, please feel free to use this as your vacation and travel around as you please!

Question

What’s the best way to get around Mérida?

Answer

Mérida is super walkable, and Ubers are readily available and affordable. We’ll also have transportation for wedding events.

Question

What’s the best way to pay for things in Mérida—should I bring pesos or use my card?

Answer

Many places accept credit cards, especially in the city center, but it’s a good idea to have some pesos on hand for taxis, tips, and smaller shops. ATMs are widely available, but check with your bank about international fees.

Question

What is the weather like in Mérida in February?

Answer

February is one of Mérida’s most pleasant months sunny, warm days and cooler evenings. Pack light, breathable clothes and don’t forget sunscreen!

Question

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Our wedding is 100% outdoors. In the unlikely event of rain, a tent will be installed for shelter.

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

We love your little ones, but we’re keeping the celebration adults-only to keep the vibe intimate and relaxed.

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

You are more than welcome to bring your friend/partner to Mérida to celebrate with us throughout the week of the wedding, however, unless your RSVP states that you have a plus one, they won't be able to attend the wedding. If your invitation includes a guest, their name will be listed. If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out to us directly.

Question

Can we take pictures during the wedding?

Answer

No! We kindly ask that you hold off on taking photos during the ceremony so our photographers can capture everything perfectly without distractions. After the ceremony go wild! We’d love for you to take as many photos as you like and help us capture all the fun memories.

Question

What’s the dress code?

Answer

Think elegant and festive. We’ll share more inspiration and weather tips on our wedding Instagram page.

Question

What should I do if I have dietary restrictions?

Answer

Please let us know when you RSVP! We’ll do our best to accommodate dietary needs at all wedding events.

Question

What kind of shoes should I wear?

Answer

Skip the stilettos for this one there are grassy and dirt areas you might need to walk through. Opt for chunky heels or something more stable. We definitely don’t want anyone sinking into the ground, ruining cute shoes, or twisting an ankle!

Question

Can I drink the water in Mérida?

Answer

We recommend sticking to bottled or filtered water, including for brushing your teeth. Most hotels and restaurants are prepared for this and offer safe water options.

Question

What should I do if I don’t speak Spanish?

Answer

Many people in Mérida speak some English, especially in hotels and tourist areas. Still, it’s handy (and appreciated!) to know a few phrases or download a translation app just in case. We recommend Duolingo to get started!
