Travel Note
If you're coming from the east, please note that Birmingham (cst) is one hour behind Atlanta (est) time zone, so you'll gain an hour traveling there, and lose one traveling back. All of our information and timing posting is in cst, according to Birmingham's local time.
Flight
The Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport is located is located in Jefferson County, five miles northeast of Downtown Birmingham, near the interchange of Interstates 20 and 59. This is a smaller airport, so it's easy to get in and out of. And it's just 12 minutes from our venue, Little Professor Bookstore, in Homewood.
Flight
Hartsfield is our biggest airport here in Atlanta, and also known as the busiest airport in the world! Due to its size, this may be more convenient or affordable than the Birmingham airport. The airport is between 2.5 ad 3.5 hours from Homewood, Alabama (depending on if you go west on i20 through Douglasville, or Southwest across i85 through Auburn). Due to the Hartsfield's size and business, this is an airport where you really do need to arrive 3 hours before your flight.
Travel Note
Birmingham is a lively, arts-centric bubble of Alabama. It has tons to do, and lots of sweet, unique little neighborhoods with their own personality and flair. While we aren't providing room blocks, here are a few areas we'll be spending time in during the weekend to help you determine where you might like to stay. HOMEWOOD: Our Ceremony Venue Homewood (where Little Professor is located) feels like a quaint historic square. There are a few strips of local businesses with great shopping and food. Definitely come stroll here, and feel free to stay near by, but there aren't many lodging options in Homewood Proper. DOWNTOWN: Welcome Party Venue Downtown is more urban, and you'll find lots of great food, fun parks and things to do (though slightly more limited parking in some areas). The Wine Loft, where The Miller Family is hosting our Welcome Party, is located right in the middle of downtown. This area is only about a 7 minute drive to Homewood. GLEN IRIS / SOUTHSIDE: This is the area where the we will be staying with our Best People. It's about 11 minutes from Downtown, and 8 minutes from Homewood. This area remains less gentrified that Homewood, for example, so there's less quaint walkability, but plenty of nice AirBnBs. MOUNTAIN BROOK: This is the area where Jackson lived with our beloved friends, the Snipes, and where much of our early relationship unfolded. It is not walkable, but is close to the interstate and breweries, and has a lot of beautiful giant homes (including one that Matthew McConaughey lived in for a while!). It's about 12 minutes from downtown, and 10 minutes from Homewood. VESTAVIA HILLS: This is the most "big box" area, and is the furthest we recommend staying at 11 min away from Little Professor, and 18 minutes away from The Wine Loft. If you're looking for a specific chain or hotel, you'll likely find it in Vestavia.
