We're Getting Married!

After much consideration, we've determined that our shared future family will be 'The Brimroses.' We recognize it may seem fun to some and a little out of left field to others, so we wanted to take a moment to share the significance behind our choice and invite you into the story!! The two of us, Annie Rose Hight and Jackson Brim Miller, have always known we wanted to merge our names in some way. Meeting each other in the middle equally and honestly has always been a core aspect of our relationship. In the spirit of that, long before getting engaged we discussed combining last names. We are both professional creatives, and as such, much of our separate lives revolve around bringing together beautiful things to make something new and wonderful - be it combining words into a story for Jackson, or mixing paint in a new way on a canvas for Annie. For us, the sacred entity of marriage is not only a joining of our families of origins, but also in coming together to create something beautiful of our own. We wanted our future name to symbolize that. We had some options, but for awhile none felt right. One choice Jackson suggested was to adopt Annie's middle name: 'Rose.' Which was Annie's grandmother's name. It was a family name, and Annie's grandmother was spunky, fashionable, beloved by all she met, and one of her dearest friends and role models growing up. It was a great idea! But we didn't want to choose a name that was only significant to one of our families as the symbolism in joining our families together was very important to us. Then one day while wedding planning Jackson said, "I just love the name Rose. If we picked that one I could publish under the name 'Brim Rose.' Which just sounds lovely." Annie then gasped and said, "Say that again!" And that was the moment we knew. We would combine our middle names - both important to our family histories - to make our last name! Our last names would then become our middle names:) We'll be 'Annie Hight Brimrose' and 'Jackson Miller Brimrose,' and couldn't be more thrilled. We love that we get to honor both our families, while also creating something beautiful of our own. Now you know the story! We're so excited!
