Marathon is a very small town with a population of about 500 people. It is most popularly known for being home to the historic Gage Hotel. Marathon is only about an hour from Big Bend National Park. We definitely recommend visiting the park while you're out here! It's a place that'll make you want to plan your next visit before you even leave! You can also plan a drive out to Alpine (30 minutes from Marathon) or Marfa (1 hour from Marathon). Each town out west will capture your heart for different reasons, but they all share the same allure. The pace of life slows down, you're present out here. We've also listed some local spots in town that are all within short walking distance from each other! Enjoy exploring!!
