Things To Do

We're excited to share with you some of our favorite things to do in Northern New Mexico
Meow Wolf

Meow Wolf

1352 Rufina Circle, Santa Fe, NM 87507
, (505) 395-6369

Meow Wolf is a great experiential art exhibit. It is beyond description but a definite must see! I recommend spending the extra dollar for the spectrum glasses. If you can only do two things in New Mexico go see Valles Caldera and Meow Wolf.

Valles Caldera

Valles Caldera

NM 87025

Did you know that New Mexico has a super volcano? Don't worry, it is not active :). At the center of the Jemez mountains over the super volcano is the Valles Caldera. In the center of the Caldera is a lovely valley surrounded by mountains. This area is great to just drive through, stop and take some pictures, or take a hike if you would like.

Santa Fe Plaza

Santa Fe Plaza

Plaza Central, Santa Fe, NM 87507

Santa Fe Plaza is full of art exhibits, the cathedral basilica, great restaurants, and plenty of places to shop.

The Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi

New Mexico Breweries

New Mexico Breweries

New Mexico has a over 80 local breweries and has some of the best craft beers in the country. Check out the link below to get a map of all of the craft breweries in New Mexico.

Georgia O'Keeffe Museum

Georgia O'Keeffe Museum

217 Johnson Street, Santa Fe, NM 87501
, (505) 946-1000

I grew up with Georgia O'Keeffe's paintings of New Mexico's landscape. If you are like me, consider visiting the Georgia O'Keefe Museum

Balloon Fiesta

Balloon Fiesta

October 2-October 10, 2021. If you plan on staying in New Mexico an extra week, stick around for the International Balloon Fiesta. In October the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta® creates an enchanted world of special shape balloon rodeos, twilight balloon glows, and vibrant balloon-filled skies.

Hyde Memorial State Park

Hyde Memorial State Park

740 Hyde Park Road, Santa Fe, NM 87501
, (505) 983-7175

Do you like hiking? Santa Fe is full of great hikes. Here is a link to the trails around the wedding venue.

Very Large Array

Very Large Array

Socorro, NM 87825
, (575) 835-7000

The Very Large Array Radio Telescope is a two hour drive from Albuquerque, about 50 miles west of Socorro, New Mexico. Mark studied here for about 3.5 years. It is an amazing site and the worlds most sensitive ear. 27 radio telescopes acting as one. It is a bit far out of the way but well worth the trip to see one of the most amazing engineering marvels of our time.

Albuquerque

Albuquerque

Albuquerque, NM

If you decide to stay in Albuquerque, there is a ton to do! Visit the Zoo or Biopark (Mark loves the bugarium!). Check out one of the local growers markets or a few of our 60 some local breweries. The link below connects you to Albuquerque's tourist site.

Ghost Ranch

Ghost Ranch

This is where Georgia O'keffe did most of her famous work. The mountain Pedernal looms over the canyon and is quite a site to see. The Chama river flows through the canyon and Abiquiu lake is nearby for cliff diving and swimming. When you see pictures of the southwest in catalogues and advertisements this is usually where they're showing you. Many movies have been shot here including Cowboys vs Aliens, City Slickers, 310 to Yuma, and the Ballad of Buster Scruggs. Amy also grew up going here, participating in youth programs, hiking, and camping.

Rio Grande Gorge Bridge

Rio Grande Gorge Bridge

Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, NM 87529

This bridge is the 7th highest in the US. The views are beautiful but a little unnerving.

For all the days along the way
