We met online! How original, I know :). We met through OK Cupid. I (Amy) had never done online dating before but I wanted to try it. Mark had been trying it for a few years, but I guess he was still waiting for the right one ;-). I went on OK Cupid for only three days, but that's all it took to meet Mark. What intrigued me about his profile was that he was an astronomer. I always appreciate people who are scientists and critical thinkers, so I was definitely immediately interested. On his profile, he wrote, "If you are interested, write back why you think Pluto should or should not be classified as a planet." I had actually just listened to a podcast the day before on this topic so I was ready to respond. So, I wrote a long response back explaining the scientific reasons why Pluto should be classified as a planet. When he responded, he graciously told me why I was wrong lol, but we never stopped talking after that. During this time, Mark had just broken his leg so we didn't end up meeting until about a month later. This way he had a bit of time to recover before meeting me. We met in person on August 15, 2016 at El Pinto Restaurant in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We immediately had great conversations, lots of laughter, and have been together ever since.
