Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Maria Patterson and Amy Longstreth
Listen, we're tourists here too so we don't have the inside scoop. That said, here are all of the things we would have been doing on our trips to Maryland if we hadn't been planning our wedding! If nothing on this list appeals to you, first, reread this excellent list and reevaluate your choices, and then consider making a side trip to nearby Washington, D.C., which apparently has a cool museum or two.
Patapsco Valley State Park - Avalon Area

Patapsco Valley State Park - Avalon Area

5120 South Street, Halethorpe, MD 21227
, (410) 461-5005

This is where we're getting married! It's a state park so you can do outdoorsy things like hike, take pictures of weird insects, etc. Patapsco Valley State Park follows the river, so there are actually several different sections to explore. In the section where we are holding our wedding, we recommend playing in the river in the Orange Grove area; walking across the swinging bridge; and hiking Cascade Falls Loop Trail and Soapstone Trail.

National Aquarium

National Aquarium

501 East Pratt Street, Baltimore, MD 21202

Your grin will be toothier than a shark's! You'll flip over the dolphins! Is there any place more roe-mantic than an aquarium?

American Visionary Art Museum

American Visionary Art Museum

800 Key Highway, Baltimore, MD 21230

Weird art? YES PLEASE

The PaperMoon Diner

The PaperMoon Diner

227 West 29th Street, Baltimore, MD 21211

Like Amy and Maria, The PaperMoon Diner is A LOT. A bastion of living art, it has mannequins, toy cars, murals, and even (gasp) food! The menu looks great (it even has vegan and GF options) but honestly we'd go here anyway just for the experience.

Green Mount Cemetery

Green Mount Cemetery

1501 Greenmount Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21202

You should never use the Ouija Board in a cemetery. You can, however, visit the Ouija-themed headstone of Elijah Jefferson Bond, the creator of the Ouija Board, in Baltimore’s Green Mount Cemetery. Also, Amy and Maria love walking around cemeteries, and Green Mount Cemetery is one of the oldest garden cemeteries in the country. It was inspired by Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA – one of Amy and Maria’s favorite haunts in the Boston area.

Dragon Boats and Pirate Ships in the Harbor

Dragon Boats and Pirate Ships in the Harbor

301 East Pratt Street, Baltimore, MD 21202

Go get some arrrr and arrrr on the harbor on an electric pirate ship or dragon-shaped paddleboat. Open Saturday and Sunday, 10/14 and 10/15. Boats are first-come, first-serve. Well-behaved dogs are allowed.
