FAQs

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Forest attire is required; boots and plaid are recommended. Just joking! You are more than welcome to wear boots and plaid, but mostly we want you to wear whatever will make you feel comfortable. Both the ceremony and reception will be in a covered, open-air, stone pavilion in a state park. The mid-October weather may be wet or chilly, so please be prepared with warm layers in case it's on the cooler side. While the paths are paved, the ceremony area is not, so heels (or any shoes that you would hate to get muddy) are not recommended.

Question

Is the venue accessible?

Answer

We will do our best to make sure our wedding is accessible for everyone, but if you have specific concerns, please let Maria or Amy know. We've listed some facts/potential areas of concern below. The pavilion is next to a parking lot connected by a paved path. The floor of the pavilion is fairly smooth stone. If the weather is nice, the ceremony will be directly outside of the pavilion on flat dirt. The restroom is a short walk away from the pavilion and down a somewhat steep hill. We will have a van going between the pavilion and the restroom for those who do not wish to walk up or down the hill. Unfortunately, amplifiers are not allowed so we ask that you choose a ceremony seat farther away from the "stage" if you can hear well to allow those who are hard of hearing to sit at the front. There will be a shuttle from the hotel (TBD) and the park as there is limited parking. If you are planning on driving your own car, please let us know ahead of time so that we can ensure there is enough parking for everyone.

Question

Will I be safe at this wedding?

Answer

We want everyone at our wedding to feel safe and comfortable! To that end, we have the following asks: 1) Only attend if you are vaccinated against COVID-19. Out of concern for the safety of our guests, please make sure that you are fully vaccinated before the wedding. While the pavilion is not completely enclosed, it is small and folks will be seated close together. You are of course welcome to wear a mask if that makes you feel more comfortable. 2) Do not join us if you have symptoms of any contagious illnesses, racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, or other form of bigotry.
