Wedding Party

Dave Collis

Best Man

Dave speaks 250 languages, unfortunately all of them are computer code. Dave and Nick have been room-mates, travel buddies and good friends since childhood. Looking forward to: "Maple Syrup and meeting the Due South fella" Who should play Nick in a movie: "Joe Pesci" Would a shark or a bear win in a fight? "The question states that it must be one shark and one bear, so we're not talking all out inter-species war here- a more complicated assessment given their habitats. However, it doesn't state where the fight will take place (land or water). There is no mention of species, age or size of animal, or whether they've been training for this fight. If we go with averages and locations chosen at random..." He literally went on for another 480 words.

Nicole Pangborn

Maid of Honor

The Original Nic, aka Pewps, is the razzle to Ali's dazzle. Nicole has been known to knit for Ali, and sometimes even finish that knitting (*ahem Nicole*). She also plays the jazz piano standing up (très impressive). Ali's highlight of their friendship is when they once saw an obese NYC raccoon eating a piece of pizza in a tree. Who should play Ali in a movie of her life? "Kristen Wiig LOL" What are you most looking forward to at the wedding? "BABIES"

Alex May

Master of Ceremonies

Big Al is a fan of cars, drum solos and epic European road trips. He's a veteran of the Nurburgring and is the 20 year undefeated go-karting champ among the lads. His legendary grandfather has a stand named after him at Crystal Palace's football stadium, although don't count on Alex being able to explain the off-side rule to you... Years known Nick: "29 looong years" Who should play Nick in a movie: "Forrest Gump"

Tessa Stewart

Bridesmaid

Twinnie, aka Twinsicle, is a Capetonian who Ali met on the first day of 'school' at Cambridge and they have been friends ever since. Tess is the Other kind of doctor (the real one!), rides ex-racehorses, and once got so hot on a 35˚C hike that she stuck her entire head in a waterfall. Who should play Ali in a movie of her life? "Jenna Elfman or Julia Roberts" Apart from the wedding, what are you most looking forward to?: "Touching down in Canada for the first time!"

Ed Felstead

Groomsman

Eddy, all round good guy and someone who has known Nick forever. Was once aggressively called ‘Friar Tuck’ by a homeless guy on London Bridge. Close to the bone, sir. Now lives in the USA with his awesome fam, still pronounces 'water' correctly and really likes the NFL. Recent text to Nick: "Oh my god, you dropped half your fantasy football team, your best players! Aaron Rodgers?! He's your best player!" 26 texts (with edited screenshots) follow, showing Nick how not to ruin the league.

Jenni Hucul

Bridesmaid

Jenni and Ali met at the track, and Ali is still starstruck that Jenni used to be the fastest woman in the world for her age in the 100m! Jenni makes Ali laugh literally every time they talk, and regularly sends actual mail, which, when discovered in the mailbox, is always a highlight of the day. What’s your fave memory of us? "Hiking at Lake Louise for your birthday, seeing snow at the peak, and stopping at a tea house on the way back down" Who should play Ali in a movie of her life? "Jennifer Garner"

Jim Holtom

Groomsman

Jim is Nick's go-to friend for sport based adventure. They've gone on trips in the UK, Spain and Australia, usually with the intention of surfing on something, climbing up something or skating down something. Jim also uses a hairdryer to get a BBQ going, which is, quite frankly, back country genius. Years known Nick: "17 years. I met Nick on my Gap Year via Dave" Would a shark or a bear win in a fight? "A shark has no chance on land against a bear, but a bear might have a bit more chance in water against a shark, so gonna have to say bear." Who should play Nick in a movie: "Tom Cruise for the lolz"

Steph McCormick

Bridesmaid

Steph and Ali originally met at the track, but can now be found either eating cake at the bookstore or talking about dogs or walking dogs or something otherwise involving dogs. Steph always has a better tan than Ali, and is usually accompanied by her enormous dog that looks like a bear. Who should play Ali in a movie of her life? "Hilary Swank. They’re both intelligent, beautiful, and athletic" (Aw shucks Steph!) What are you most looking forward to at the wedding? "Seeing so many friends in the same place at one time, and getting to experience a part of BC I’ve never seen before"

Sam Twomey

Groomsman

When my little sister brought home a 6"6ft professional rugby player, I was a little worried that, short of using my car, I didn't have many options if I needed to keep him in line. Luckily, I needn't have worried as Sam has become a firm friend and much loved part of the family, Mary-Anne and Sam wed last summer in a beautiful ceremony and Ali and I are looking forward to welcoming them to our own shindig. Sam's a fan of Metallica, surfing and erm...Taylor Swift.

Katharine Brown

Bridesmaid

Kat has been in Ali's life as long as she can remember (27 years!). Kat is officially credited with introducing Ali to: the Mighty Ducks, IKEA, trampolines, pickles, stick-on moustaches, and the joy of being an Auntie. What's your fave memory of us? "Spanish Delicacies, a late 90s cooking show which we produced, directed, wrote, and starred in. One episode only, but an instant classic" Who should play Ali in a movie of her life? "Drew Barrymore"

Steven Holmberg

Officiant

Famous for his extensive collection of soccer jerseys/football shirts and Stephen King novels. Has graciously used his acting skills to provide his sister the opportunity to scream ‘THAT’S MY BROTHER!’ in a packed movie theater. What’s your fave memory of you and Ali? "When you successfully caught Charlton’s winning goal on film!" Looking forward to: "Finally meeting Ali’s Saskatoon friends!"

Holly Brown

Flower Girl

Holly turns her Auntie into a puddle of mush every time she sees her. We are pretty sure that Holly’s first word was ‘Ali’ (Katharine might correct us on that…). Fave dance moves: The Matrix™, The Wibble-Wobble™

For all the days along the way
