We met at Bar Charley for drinks on a sweltering summer day (D.C. in July...) When we both dared each other to order the flaming drinks on the menu--and followed through with it--we knew there would be a second date. Now our dog is named Charlie!

After living only a block away from each other in the Dupont Circle area (separated by the Spanish Steps), we moved to the Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood together.

Kevin suggested ordering delivery and dressing up as if we were going out for dinner, then casually mentioned we should take a walk on the National Mall while we waited for the food to arrive--a route we walked almost every night after work during COVID restrictions. When we got to the reflecting pool, he got down on one knee and popped the question!
