The World-Famous Wildhorse Saloon is a 66,000 square foot live music and line dancing destination. Don't worry if you don't know how to line dance, they'll teach you. Fun fact: they serve 2 million + pickle slices every year. BOOTS: If you want to look the part, don't worry, there are no less than seven boot stores on lower Broadway. Lucchese boots over in the gulch is Alex's favorite. On the other hand Tecovas has been known to give you a free beer while you try on boots, and Boot Country has buy-1 get-2-free, so bring some friends!
The Nashville Zoo at Grassmere is a zoological garden and historic plantation farmhouse located 6 miles southeast of Downtown Nashville. The zoo contains 6,230 individual animals, encompassing 339 species. Yes, there are plenty of flamingos (and you should all be thankful the wedding is not here). The zoo's site is approximately 188 acres in size.
The Parthenon in Nashville is the world’s only exact-size and detail replica of the original temple in Athens, Greece. When Tennessee celebrated its 100th year of statehood with the Tennessee Centennial Exposition, Nashville took advantage of its nickname “Athens of the South” and built the Fine Art Building as a copy of Athens’ most famous building and the epitome of Greek classical architecture.
Check out the link for distilleries around Nashville or, just 70 miles south of Nashville, one of the South's most popular attractions celebrates the heritage of an old distiller. In the second half of the 19th century, Jasper Newton Daniel would go on to create the world's most celebrated whiskey brand thanks in part to a special limestone spring on which the distillery was built. You can visit Jack Daniel's and take a free walking tour—or opt to pay $10 for tastings—but be sure and allot enough time to poke around the old-timey Lynchburg square and have a family-style meal at Miss Mary Bobo's Boarding House, which is still owned by Daniel's kin.
Lower Broadway is lined with honky tonks, all-day and all-night watering holes, and dance halls that make Nashville Music City. While some have expanded into cover bands and rock sing-a-longs, Robert’s Western World has remained a legit place to hear Western swing from the best musicians in the city. Go there to kick up your heels, drink PBR, eat a fried bologna sandwich, and have a good time. If you want to take the music home with you, head across the street to Ernest Tubbs Record Shop.
The General Jackson is a unique 300-ft paddle wheel showboat that cruises the Cumberland River w/ views of the Nashville skyline. Enjoy live entertainment along with a delicious meal and a cruise. From American Pickers TV fame. The store is illuminated with Edison light bulbs, most in custom made fixtures. Funnels have been re-purposed into hanging lamps. Rebar has been welded into a huge cruciform chandelier, or as Mike Wolfe calls it, a ‘Mandelier’. On the black enameled Rebar a local artisan has welded wrenches, screwdrivers and other ‘guy things’.
Yes, Arnold's Country Kitchen is essentially a glorified cafeteria—albeit, one with a James Beard Classic award (one of two in the city). Because everyone in town, from musicians to politicians to tourists, eats here, expect to wait for the Southern-style "meat ‘n’ three." For decades, Arnold's was only open for weekday lunch, but it now has dinner hours (the popular Arnold’s After Dark), weekend hours, and even a new bar. Whether you're a born-and-bred Tennessean or a Southern-food novice, the meat ‘n’ three is a rite of passage.
Photo op! "As many of you know I started the What Lifts You campaign last year to provide people with the opportunity to share more about what inspires them in their life… I never expected the response I would receive. After just a week in NYC my first set of What Lifts You wings had a line down the street of people wanting to take a picture with the piece and post about what inspires them in their life. I realized that people love the opportunity to become a ‘living work of art’ by stepping into the wings and they love getting the chance to talk about what inspires them in their lives!" -- Kelsey For more iconic Nashville mural photo ops stroll down 12 Avenue S. (12South) or see the guide at https://www.visitmusiccity.com/trip-ideas/nashville-murals
The Station Inn isn't just Nashville's best bluegrass club; rather, it's the country's best. If you want to hear fast pickin', down-home excitement every night, played by many of the genre’s best musicians, high-tail it here. The drinks are cheap, and the cinder-block building might not gleam like its high-rise neighbors, but everything about the Station Inn is true-blue Music City. You never know who will show up for the Sunday Bluegrass jam, but you do know it’ll be a night to remember. Usually opens around 7 pm.
This "best of bar" situated on 3rd Avenue South near the entrance to the pedestrian bridge FGL House features music every day – focusing on today’s country trends. A world-class kitchen fuses unique Southern style cuisine with California flair, and bars on each floor serve local craft beers and deliciously mixed cocktails – many featuring the red-hot duo’s own Old Camp Whiskey. FGL House also boasts one of the largest rooftops, the “Cruise” rooftop, that Nashville has to offer, dedicated to an all-day and "almost" all-night party with stunning views of the Music City skyline. A massive, awe-inspiring video wall continuously showcases the hottest video content from Florida Georgia Line (David and Alex's first concert together) and other country stars.
Located in the heart of downtown Nashville, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum documents and interprets the history of country music. The core exhibit follows the story of country music from its folk beginnings through its emergence as a commercial art form. Rotating exhibits examine a broad range of topics, from country classics to ultra-contemporary and emerging artists in American Currents. The museum owns Hatch Show Print, a letterpress print shop opened in 1879 where you can buy iconic reproduction posters, and it operates Historic RCA Studio B, where Elvis Presley and many others recorded.

For great views of the Cumberland river and the Nashville skyline. The bridge spans 3,150 feet and is one of the longest pedestrian bridges in the world. It includes scenic pedestrian overlooks that have artistic renderings of the history of life on the Cumberland River. The bridge is dramatically lit at night. The eastern terminus includes a pedestrian plaza with special landscaping and is very close to Nissan Stadium. The western terminus comes out facing the Schermerhorn Symphony Center and is very close to the Country Music Hall of Fame, Music City Center, and Bridgestone Arena. Due to the bridge's iconic status as a Nashville landmark, it is often seen in country music videos. The video for "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)", the first hit single by Big & Rich, was shot entirely on the Bridge. The video for Emerson Drive's 2007 hit single "Moments" was also filmed on and under the bridge. Several scenes from the 2011 video for "Together You and I" by Dolly Parton were filmed there.
Nashville's premiere historic site, The Hermitage, was once home to the 7th U.S. President, Andrew Jackson, from 1804 until his death in 1845. Remodeled by Jackson after a fire destroyed much of it in 1837, the mansion and 1,000 acre farm is a National Historic Landmark maintained to look just as it did in then.
Nashville hot chicken is Southern fried chicken, but with a hot and spicy difference. The fried chicken is finished with a spicy sauce made with a generous amount of cayenne and black pepper. You can request super spicy chicken, with increased cayenne, or milder. Nashville hot chicken is traditionally served with sliced white bread and pickles. Add a side of macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, or Southern-style greens for a fantastic meal. Hattie B's and Prince's are hot chicken icons.
