Casperia
Prior to the weekend of celebrations, Alex and Kelsey will be spending time in the Lazio region of Italy in a castle town called Casperia, where Kelsey’s mom has a flat and spends time throughout the year. While this time will be choose-your-own-adventure style for lodging and activities, feel free to join us here prior to heading north to Umbria, if your travel plans allow. Spoleto
A local castle town, known for its rich history, Roman ruins, and the beautiful Duomo cathedral S. Maria Assunta. This is the closest town to the villa/agriturismo and offers dining and shopping options!
Monteluco
For those who love the outdoors, the Monteluco Hike in Spoleto is a beautiful way to experience the Umbrian countryside. This scenic trail takes you through lush forests, offering panoramic views of Spoleto and the surrounding valley. The hike leads to the ancient Sacred Forest of Monteluco, a peaceful area once home to hermits and monks. Along the way, you’ll pass historic sites, including a charming Franciscan monastery. It’s a moderate hike, perfect for enjoying nature and a bit of history while soaking in the tranquility of Umbria.
Assisi
Famous as the birthplace of St. Francis, Assisi is filled with medieval charm, stunning basilicas, and breathtaking hilltop views. Key highlights include the Basilica of St. Francis, with its stunning frescoes, the Rocca Maggiore fortress, and the peaceful streets lined with quaint cafés and artisan shops. Assisi offers a perfect blend of culture, spirituality, and charm for a memorable day trip while in Umbria.
