About this venue
Wrensmoor Castle is a unique luxury rental property just east of downtown Los Angeles, California. Built circa 1925 in the style of a French Pyrenees Château and refurbished in 2022, Wrensmoor Castle invites you to experience a new era of joie de vivre at this private Southern California estate. This gated, private 9 bedroom 8500 sq. ft. house sits on a 2.7 acre hill, with lush lawns and 360 degree views. Perfect for weddings, family reunions, group travel, corporate events, retreats, and more.

Our maximum capacity is 160 guests for outdoor dining on our 4000 sq. ft West Lawn or Motor Court; dancing must be inside in our Ballroom or Cocktail Lounge. For indoor dining, we can host 60 people seated in the 560 sq. ft. Ballroom, 90 people seated theatre-style in the Ballroom, or 160 maximum for a cocktail-style reception.
Our venue fee for events on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday is $9300, or $4300 for events held on a Monday - Thursday. Cleaning fee is additional, and we do require that our Estate Management staff be on site from vendor access through completion, at the rate of $85 per hour. We also offer a discounted overnight stay rate to event clients; up to 22 guests may stay in our 9 bedrooms.
Interior furnishings at Wrensmoor include a bar in the Cocktail Lounge, a DJ booth in the Ballroom, a dance floor, (4) 30" black marble hi-tops, (8) 18" white marble hi-tops, and assorted seating. Please note that the venue fee does not include use of any second-floor spaces. Our in-house caterer, Chef Cordelia, provides dining tables and chairs, glassware, dishware and silverware for your event. If working with an outside catering company then you’ll need to provide rental tables and chairs for ceremony and/or dining.
Yes. We are available for tours Monday-Saturday, unless occupied by guests. Please note Wrensmoor Castle is gated, secure, private property and is not open for walk-in visits.
Yes. You may request to place an available weekend on hold for 7 days, or a weekday for 2 days. If another client wants the date you are holding then you'll have 24 hours to decide if you would like to book. Likewise, if you would like to book a date which is on hold, then the client with the hold has 24 hours to book or release the date.
Your venue rental includes a 6-hour Event with 4 hours of setup and 1 hour of breakdown, totaling 11 hours of property access. Weekday event access is 12pm-11pm, weekend event access is 1pm-12am. If you are renting the property for an overnight stay the night before your event, then vendor access may begin as early as 8am on event day. Rentals may be delivered and picked up at any time during your contracted stay.
• A Non-refundable first payment of 25% of your invoice is due upon booking. • 50% of your remaining balance is then due 90 days prior to your event. • Final payment of balance (adjusted for final guest count, additions, etc.) is due 14 days prior to your event.
Yes –we do allow outside caterers. Equally, Chef Cordelia Catering welcomes the opportunity to be considered to cater your event. Your caterer may rent our Kitchen Annex for an additional fee, or set up a tented rental kitchen in our motor court. Please note that your caterer must complete a site visit prior to your event, provide a certificate of insurance and sign our House Rules.
Nope – our kitchen staff are happy to cut and serve your cake and pour your wine. You are welcome to bring in your own dessert caterer or bakery to provide your wedding cake or other desserts.
Chef Cordelia Catering includes classic white dishware, flatware, and glassware for your event. If you are bringing in your own catering company, you would need to provide rentals for your event.
The event fee covers wear and tear on our property and furnishings, and many of the costs associated with maintaining the event space and with operating a catering business, such as liability insurance, worker’s comp, staff training, office personnel, monthly utilities, equipment purchases and maintenance, transportation costs, and other assorted business expenses. The event fee is not a gratuity.
Yes. We require that at minimum you use a month-of-wedding coordinator, and we highly recommend using a full-service wedding planner. We require that your coordinator/planner be present at your final details meeting, and throughout the duration of your wedding day- from set up through vendor load-out.
You are welcome to have your ceremony rehearsal at any time during your contracted stay.
Yes, we have a comprehensive approved vendor list for you choose from. If you would like to bring in a vendor who is not on our list they will need to provide a letter of recommendation from another established venue, complete a site tour prior to your event day, sign our house rules, and provide a certificate of insurance.
The latest end time allowable is 11 pm on Friday - Sunday and 10 pm Monday - Thursday. If you’d like to have a wedding longer than 6 hours then you would start your event earlier.
We provide café lighting on our West Lawn for outdoor dining, and dimmable interior chandeliers and lamps. We do not offer any other type of party lighting - most couples look to their DJ to provide party or dance floor lighting.
Wrensmoor has Sonos speakers in the Cocktail Lounge and Ballroom areas of the castle. They provide enough volume for cocktail hour and indoor dining, but your DJ will need to provide all sound equipment needed for outdoor ceremony and/or dining, and indoor dancing.
In consideration of our neighbors we do not allow amplified sound outdoors past 9 pm, and the sound level outdoors is not to exceed 75 decibels. Music played indoors may not exceed 85 decibels, and an effort must be made to keep windows and doors closed when playing music indoors past 9 pm.
Yes. We offer a black & white checkerboard dance floor in the Ballroom. The default size is 9’ x 21’, but can be adjusted in 3’ increments depending on your event needs.
We love the idea of having Lawn games as part of your cocktail hour or reception. We do not carry any games, but you are welcome to provide them and set them up.
Our staff will set all of Wrensmoor’s furnishings. Catering staff will also set dining tables with your linens and place settings, and clear all dishware/glassware/flatware/linens once dining and/or the event is complete. Please have your rental company set up the tables and chairs they are providing. You and your vendors are responsible for setting up any décor, florals, custom signage, sound equipment, drapery, photo booth, etc. and for cleanup up and removal of anything that’s been brought onto the property, such as flowers, décor, signage, paper products, candles, etc.
If you are staying overnight you are welcome to keep the party going with your overnight guests, provided you keep all activity indoors and all event guests and vendors are off property by midnight Friday–Sunday or 11pm Monday-Thursday. While the main bar will close in the Cocktail Lounge, our bartenders can move bar product into the Speakeasy Bar for self-service.
Yes. We have options for catering a continental breakfast for overnight guests or full-service brunch for additional guests. Please inquire for menus and pricing.
Please contact Chris with Proper Parking, our exclusive valet company, at parking@properparking.com for a quote for your event - they will handle all logistics. Vendors are welcome to unload their vehicles in the motor court at the top of the driveway, which fits approximately 18 cars. The valet company will then move all vendor vehicles and overnight guest vehicles prior to guest arrival. Event guests are not to park on neighborhood streets.
We have 3 first floor restrooms available for event guests to use, as well as 1 restroom available on the first floor of the guest house/garage. The 7 bathrooms on the 2nd floor are for overnight guest use only.
We do not allow pets to stay overnight at Wrensmoor, however the wedding couple is welcome to include their pet in their outdoor ceremony, provided the pet is leashed at all times, and removed from the property following ceremony. Pets are not allowed inside the castle.

Smoking is prohibited indoors and outdoors within 50 ft. of any of the entrance doors. Guests may smoke outdoors in any area with concrete or gravel. There is an ash receptacle located by the fire pit on the east side of the house. If you are planning on providing a Cigar Station or Weed Bar for your guests, it would need to be set up in an exterior area of the property.
Yes. Small fireworks are legal in the city of Alhambra. Please keep all fireworks over the brick or concrete areas of the property. We do not allow fireworks indoors or over the grass.
We do allow drone photography, with any drone activity concluding by 9pm at the latest. Please limit drone flying to above Wrensmoor only, in order to not disturb our neighbors. As with all vendors, your drone operator will need to provide us with proof of liability insurance and a signed copy of our House Rules.
For events with a maximum of 60 guests it is possible to host your ceremony in the Ballroom, then ‘flip’ the room for dining, during cocktail hour. This will incur a fee for 2 additional staff to assist in moving furniture. For events with greater than 60 guests we can host your ceremony indoors in the Ballroom, and then you would need to bring in a rental tent for dining. We do keep track of the weather and will work with your planner to schedule the tent installation and removal. The cost of rental tenting varies, based on size and other factors such as additional heating and lighting.
Yes. We require all clients and vendors must be insured, and provide us with a COI (certificate of insurance). Many clients go through their homeowners or renters insurance, or there are companies such as WedSafe and Event Helper which specifically supply insurance for events.
