Originally built in the early 1900s for luxury faucet manufacturing, the 22,000 square foot warehouse sat empty for decades. The creative potential of the location caught our eye, and in 2016, we went to work to renovate the building. As event vendors ourselves, we designed The Madison to be the best parts of every cool venue we’ve ever worked from Seattle to New York City and Chicago to the Caribbean. In 2018, we reopened the restored space The Madison. We quickly gained acclaim from the area’s top event planners, community collaborators, and even local professional athletes. As Northeast Ohio’s premier event venue, our mission is to cultivate human connection and life’s treasured moments. You’ll find it effortless to work with us and within the space so you can focus more on your goals – and your guests.

Five fun facts about the Lake Erie Building: 1. We were originally built to be Templar Motors back in 1917. There were less than 3,000 of these cars ever manufactured and if you look carefully, you may even be able to spot one while in the event space! 2. Omni Lakewood purchased the building in 2005 and now manages the building, which has been divided into individual suites that are home to over 100 businesses. 3. The west parking lot where our dock is located used to be a test track for Templar Motors. 4. We host only one event per weekend and give our clients access beginning on Wednesday so they can bring in all their personal touches! We also only require cards and gifts go with them that night and everything else can stay giving you more time to spend with your new spouse! 5. We include a private parking lot and have a huge municipal lot across the street that's available to guests. We offer 3 wedding rental packages.

  • Catering and bar services ($6,286 combined)
  • Photography and videography ($5,321 combined)
  • Florals and decor ($3,547)

Cleveland's unique venues span a full range of capacities. For intimate gatherings of 50 guests or fewer, you'll find select specialized spaces ideal for elopements and small celebrations.

Mid-sized venues accommodating 51–150 guests start from around $4,233 and work well for traditional ceremonies with reception space. These align with wedding budgets of $13,900–$34,400.

Larger unique venues holding 150+ guests start from $5,347 and are the most abundant option in the marketplace. They accommodate total budgets ranging from $31,400 to $81,100 depending on your guest count. Whether you're planning for 100 guests or 300, Cleveland's diverse venue landscape—from Tremont's urban lofts to Cuyahoga Valley's pastoral estates—has options that fit both your headcount and budget.

Yes. Ohio City and Tremont are vibrant neighborhoods close to downtown that host distinctive wedding venues. Ohio City blends industrial charm with emerging galleries and event spaces, while Tremont offers tree-lined streets, converted brownstones, and art-forward venues perfect for creative couples.

For a standout option near these neighborhoods, The Madison is rated 5.0/5 and starts at $8,500. One guest shared: "The Madison was God sent! I was planning this wedding out of state and was super nervous..."

Cleveland's unique venues—particularly converted warehouses, galleries, and cultural spaces in neighborhoods like Gordon Square and University Circle—offer tremendous flexibility for personalization. Before booking, confirm vendor policies: some historic or institutional spaces restrict outside catering, décor installation, or lighting changes. Ask explicitly what you can bring in and modify.

Leverage Cleveland's creative community. Local florists, artists, and designers understand how to transform industrial or minimalist spaces. If your venue has large windows, plan lighting for evening ambiance. For outdoor venues near Lake Erie or Cuyahoga Valley, account for Ohio's variable spring and fall weather with tent rentals or backup indoor space.

Visit your chosen venue multiple times—morning, afternoon, and evening—to see how natural light and existing architecture interact with your vision. This is especially important in unique spaces without traditional stage or focal-point infrastructure.

Unique venues are designed to give you creative freedom—that's often what sets them apart. Most allow significant décor customization, though the level depends on the space itself. A converted warehouse or loft typically offers a blank canvas, while a venue with distinctive architecture (think exposed brick or vintage details) might have built-in character you'll want to complement rather than cover.

Before booking, ask these key questions:

  • What décor elements are already included or permanent?
  • Are there restrictions on hanging items, lighting, or floral installations?
  • Can you bring in outside vendors for design services?
  • What's the cleanup responsibility for custom installations?

According to Zola marketplace data, unique venues have a median starting price of $4,500 across the US, which is slightly higher than standard venues. This premium often reflects the flexibility and distinctive features that allow for creative customization. The investment in a unique space frequently means you'll need less décor to achieve your vision since the venue itself becomes part of your aesthetic.

For a 100-guest wedding in Cleveland, you can expect to spend between $23,000 and $34,400, according to the Zola Wedding Cost Index. This is notably lower than the national median of $25,000 per guest, making Cleveland a budget-friendly choice.

Within that total, your largest expenses typically break down as:

  • Catering: $3,492
  • Venues: $4,365
  • Bar services: $2,794
  • Photography: $2,787
  • Videography: $2,534
  • Florals: $3,547
  • Planning services: $2,128

Venues represent about 15% of your total budget. If you're planning a smaller celebration of 50 guests, expect $13,900–$20,900, while a larger 200-guest wedding runs $39,000–$58,500.

Start by confirming your guest count—this directly shapes your venue search and total budget. Here's how costs scale in Cleveland:

  • 50 guests: $13,900–$20,900 total wedding budget
  • 100 guests: $23,000–$34,400 (the standard benchmark)
  • 150 guests: $31,400–$47,100
  • 200 guests: $39,000–$58,500

Based on Zola marketplace data, Cleveland venues range from $3,500 to $10,000, with a median of $10,000. Smaller, intimate spaces work well for 50–75 guests, while mid-size venues accommodate 100–150 comfortably. Larger ballrooms and event spaces handle 200+ guests.

Once you've chosen your guest count, allocate roughly 15% of your total budget to the venue itself, then work backward to see what capacity range fits your finances and vision.
