Maid of Honor
Stephanie and I met in second grade and shared a love-hate rivalry over our favorite toys and competing who could be the loudest in the room. Today, legos and Pokemon cards have been traded in for shopping dates and wine nights, but we still haven't settled the "who is the loudest?" debate.
Best Man
We met stationed at Camp Lejeune. He was the first person I met from my new unit. I walked into the room in the barracks, and he was just sitting there on the bed. While deployed in Afghanistan, we read Twilight aloud to each other to pass the time. He did not enjoy it.
Bridesmaid
Brittany and I spent almost every Sunday throughout our childhood together, from asking ridiculous questions in Sunday School and Confirmation Class to annoy our teachers, to getting into trouble on youth retreats that resulted in embarrassing phone calls home. Just like her namesake, Brittany is the sweetest soul I have ever met, and whether it be a phone call home at 2 in the morning when we were 13, or a walk down the aisle ten years later, Brittany has always been by my side.
Groomsmen - Daniel's Brother
I became conscious one day and Dennis was there.
Bridesmaid
Pili and I met our junior year of high school after she transferred from Spain. She was quiet, I was (still am) obnoxiously loud, and I decided to introduce myself to her by telling her my whole life story, which she hadn’t asked for. While I didn’t give her much of a choice in the matter, we became fast friends.
Groomsman
Dillon came to our unit late and just showed up one day randomly in formation, so we decided to talk shit to him. We've been talking shit ever since.
Bridesmaid
Alex and I met during my second semester at the University of Virginia. I was having a hard time adjusting to college, and decided to rush a sorority. Had it not been for Alex, I'm not sure I would have made it through. Not only was she my first friend at UVA, but from the minute we sat down for our coffee date, I knew she would be in my life forever. She became my sorority "Big" and one of my best friends.
Groomsman
Cory and I met because we were in the same platoon together. We bonded over video games and our home state of Virginia.
Bridesmaid - Daniel's Sister
Daniel's older sister - soon to be mine. Here's to a lifetime of cuddling up on the couch watching TV while snacking on chips and sipping wine! Cheers, Kristen!
Groomsman
Michael and I met way back in Kindergarten, when our mom's who were friends forced us to hang out together.
Bridesmaid - Allie's Cousin
Though my cousin, it's more apt to describe Kelli as a sister to me. My family's summer vacation home was the Zuegel-Family-Reunion hotspot every summer growing up, and I spent my childhood climbing on her "like a little monkey", going on golf cart rides with her, and getting yelled at when she taught me songs and dances that I should not have yet known. Now, Kelli and I spend our summers drinking wine by the lake, my niece and nephew (her kids) climbing over me, and as always, going on an infinite number of golf cart rides.
Groomsman
My first memorable moment of Jon Land was when we had to do a driving course [in the Marines] and I was the only one with a car, so I had to drive us all to the course. We had been drinking the night before, and when we got out of the car - we were already in our gear - we heard bottles clinking. We asked what the sound was, and Jon pulled an empty bud light bottle from his vest.
Ring-Bearer - Allie's second cousin
Jamie is Kelli's son, whom I consider my own nephew and I love more than life itself. Though I really only get to see him during the summers, watching him grow has been one of my life's greatest joys. A highly lovable yet rambunctious three-year old, we aren't sure Jamie will quite make it down the aisle on the day-of. Fingers-crossed!
Groomsman
Tim and I met in infantry school, when a group of us were planning to go off-base for some fun. Tim popped his head around the lockers and said, "We going to the strip club?!"
Flower Girl - Allie's Cousin
Ella is the smartest four year old I have ever met, not to mention the absolute cutest. She is an absolute ray of sunshine who never fails to make my day. I won't even be able to blame her at the inevitable reality of her totally upstaging me on the Big Day.
Flower Girl - Daniel's Second Cousin
Hadley is my cousin Heather's Daughter. She really likes Frozen.
