We met in college. Not at a frat party or at a bar, but in our 8:30am Monday morning Business 101 class on the first day of school… freshman year. We sat across the room from each other and after accidentally making eye contact once or twice, we started making funny faces at each other periodically. Waiting for those classes to continue our nonverbal relationship became what we looked forward to most. This went on for over a month before we finally introduced ourselves and went on our first date. 8 years later and today we are engaged!! FINALLY! Joe proposed on Mackinac Island on 7/2/21. I grew up on Mackinac Island in the summers and we would travel back to the island together a few times every summer. It became our favorite place to spend time together and was the only place I could image us getting engaged and soon, married! We enjoyed dinner with my whole family at our house and headed down to the lake on the backside of the island to watch the sunset. Right when we got down to the beach, where Joe first asked me to be his girlfriend and where we both told each other that we loved one another for the first time 7 years ago, he got down on one knee. Happiest moment of our lives… we celebrated with friends and family until 3am that night (shoutout to all of you at the Pony). So SO many happy tears. We cannot wait to get married on the island next summer, August 13th 2022. We are getting married and having our reception exactly where my parents got married 30 years ago and on this island where so many milestones of our relationship happened.
