If you have a little extra time, we highly recommend taking a short drive from Traverse City to the charming town of Leland. Known for its historic Fishtown, Leland is a picturesque lakeside village filled with weathered fishing shanties, local shops, and beautiful views of Lake Michigan. Fishtown – walk along the docks, explore shops, and take in the views Van’s Beach – perfect for a peaceful walk or sunset along Lake Michigan If you make the trip to Leland, you have to stop at Village Cheese Shanty 🧀 This iconic little shop in Fishtown is known for its amazing sandwiches, fresh ingredients, and laid-back, local charm. It’s the perfect spot to grab lunch and enjoy it by the water. Tip: It’s very popular—so expect a line, but it’s absolutely worth it 🤍 It’s the perfect spot for a relaxed afternoon, photos, and soaking in the charm of Northern Michigan 🤍

Known for all things cherry (Traverse City is the Cherry Capital 🍒), this spot offers everything from chocolate-covered cherries and cherry salsa to wine, soda, and fun gifts to take home. You can sample different products, grab a snack, or just browse and enjoy the experience. It’s a fun and easy stop while exploring downtown—or a great place to pick up something sweet before heading home 🤍
