One our go-to stops for late-night eats, Blind Tiger is one-stop shop for hip crowds, Asian-inspired tapas (Massaman curry fries!) and cocktails.

Best fish tacos in the Bay, with agua frescas that will rock your world.
Alem's Coffee
One of the best-kept secrets in the Bay, and our favorite place for Sunday brunch after making the rounds at the Claremont Farmers Market, Alem's Coffee is a hole-in-the wall that serves up the most delicious bowls of Ethiopian ful and fata you can find.
Grand Lake Kitchen
This is our go-to neighborhood brunch eatery, open Mondays and serving up scrumptious California takes on deli classics. The savory French toast is a must!
Snow White Coffee
Hands-down our favorite neighborhood coffee spot. This is where we'll usually get our morning coffee on our days off, or whenever we get the chance. A cup of pour over and ginger cookie or veggie quiche is our go-to order here.
Humphry Slocombe
One of our favorite ice cream shops, and where we went for dessert our first night out! Make sure to try the Secret Breakfast.
Lake Merritt
Where the cool kids hang out. On a beautiful day this is where you'll see people from all walks of life in Oakland. Walk around the 3.4 mile perimeter of the lake for some exercise, or chill on a blanket and people watch for a more relaxed time.
Oakland-Grand Lake Farmers Market
Our favorite farmers market in the Bay, though sadly we rarely get to go because we both work on Saturdays. Full of varied, abundant, and well-priced produce and food vendor stalls, this market has it all. Don't forget to stop by Anfilo Coffee for a cup of Ethiopian coffee in their inviting outdoor salon.
Leona Heights Park
This is one of our favorite local hikes and where we went on our first foraging excursion together. We tried to forage fern fiddleheads... we got really excited as we identified the different ferns -- bracken and sword -- and gathered up a Tupperware of fiddleheads to take back to the bakery to cook for a staff potluck. Unfortunately they turned out really bitter and weren't the right ones, but it was a fun adventure to remember! Definitely a great place for a quick hike through a densely woody and fern-filled forest.
Redwood Regional Park
For longer hikes and more extensive trails, check out Redwood Regional Park -- a gorgeous park of towering majestic redwoods, bay laurels, and more right here in our own backyard. Huckleberry Botanic Regional Preserve is one of our favorite trails.
Matt Davis Trail
For a serious hike, head out to the Matt Davis trail to hike from Stinson Beach up to peak of Mount Tamalpais for breathtaking views of the Pacific.
