This is where Dane and I met. It is about a 1hour and 30 min drive north from the Island Resort and Casino but it is worth it. Go to presque isle park, stop at Blackrocks and see the views. On the way there you will get amazing views of the Ore Dock. You can have breakfast at our favorite bagel place: Third Street Bagel. Have lunch at Togos or the Yoop Coop. Then get dinner at the Burger Bus or 906 Bar and Grill. Blackrocks Brewery and Ore Dock Brewery are some of our favorite places for a local beer.
The Island Resort and Casino offers a lot of fun activities for your stay! Whether you want to do some gambling, golfing, or enjoy some time in the spa! The Casino has 2 golf courses that you can play at, Sweetgrass and Sage run. Please call to book tee times. They also frequently have entertainment there as well! Check out their website for a full list of activities for you!
Visit Escanaba Michigan! It is only a 20 min drive East from the Island Resort and Casino, and only a 30 min drive from the venue. They have great beaches for spending the day out in the sun on Lake Michigan. Go searching for Beach Glass (on of Katie's favorite activities) or play some sand volleyball, or just sit back and relax. There is also places to eat and shopping to do as well.
It might be 50 mins west from the Island Resort & Casino, but it is located in Iron Mountain, MI where you can spend the whole day. And if we aren't convincing enough that this is the coffee shop to go to, the lines will! Who knows, you will most likely run into Dane or I while you are there.
If they have their blueberry beer on draft...GET IT! 51st state is a great local brewery in Kingsford, for you to relax at after a long day.
Great beer famously known in the UP.
About an hour and 30 mins drive from the Casino. However, it is worth the drive! If you have time look into boat tours that take you to see great views! If you are slightly more adventurous you can even look into kayak tours as well. There is hiking trails above that are also worth it.
Now, this is a slightly further/longer trip. It's about a 3 hour drive from the Casino, and you will also need to take a boat ride over to the actual park. However if you were planning on seeing any Moose while you were visiting the U.P. this would be the place to go! However, plan your trip accordingly because the boat rides over go on a schedule.
