Lake Merritt
Lake Merritt is a wonderful, vibrant destination. You can walk or jog the 3.4 miles that cover the perimeter of the lake and enjoy the beautiful scenery and rich culture. On saturdays from 9 am- 12 pm there’s a wonderful Lake Merritt Farmers Market.
Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park
Get out into nature! There are lots of wonderful nature access points near us. One beloved spot is Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park.
Oakland Museum of California
A wonderful museum filled with great art, cool history and fun activities
College Avenue (shops and restaurants)
Check out the sweet shops, good food and fun atmosphere of this beloved shopping district (often included on our daily dog walks!). Rockridge BART is a good base, and street parking near College is plentiful and safe.
Forma Bakery
A French Mexican bakery with delicious sweets and the bay's best bread. This bakery is on Telegraph Ave in Temescal (a street filled with shops and bars), just a few blocks from our home.

The Crown: Royal Coffee Lab & Tasting Room
Just around the corner from the hotel, a speciality coffee destination that offers everything from simple roasts to tasting flights. If you want a more relaxed, traditional coffee shop to spend some time by the hotel, we recommend Farley's East, a neighborhood institution and wonderful spot just a couple minute walk away.
The New Parkway Theater
Cozy movie theater just by the hotel with couches, better-than-movie-theater food, and a mix of current releases, cult classics, and quirky theme nights.
Live music nearby
The Kissel hotel is surrounded by incredible concert venues and theaters within a 5 minute walk, including: - Fox Theater (An Oakland institution for live music, a staple of the city) - Thee Stork Club (Smaller indie concert venue/bar) - The Sound Room (Intimate audiophile venue more likely to host Jazz/Blues/Classical) - Paramount theater (Huge art deco venue featuring a range of performance types)
