Zack and Lauren's love story is built on shared laughter and adventure. In February 2023, on their first trip together, they stumbled upon a quirky vending machine. With a handful of coins, they tried their luck, and to their absolute delight, out popped a tiny, plain, aluminum ring – a playful token of their budding affection. Zack pocketed the ring, hoping that he'd be able to use it for real one day. In spring of that same year, on an island in the Bahamas, Zack and Lauren sat together on a wreathed bench on the beach, taking in the coastline. A woman, seemingly out of nowhere, offered to take their picture, describing them as an adorable couple. One year later, Zack led Lauren to that very same beach. After being nervous all morning, and with Lauren wondering why he was wearing a polo, he knelt, pulling out the aluminum ring they'd won. He had an entire speech prepared, but only just barely managed to get out the words "Will you marry me?" Through laughter and tears, Lauren replied "Yes!" Afterwards, Lauren and Zack designed the engagement ring Lauren wears now to symbolize that day. The "real" engagement ring is tucked away safely.

Hey y'all! We had a super productive weekend on the wedding planning front. It feels like we're finally hitting our stride and seeing all the pieces come together. First off, big news: the save-the-dates have been ordered! We can't wait for everyone to get them in the mail and mark their calendars. We also hunkered down and made some serious progress on the wedding itinerary. It's a bit like putting together a giant puzzle (not nearly as difficult as The Game of Thrones puzzle we are currently working on), but we're getting a clearer picture of how the big day will flow. We want to make sure everyone has a great time! And speaking of great times, we went to sample some of the incredible wines at Flatt Rock (the ceremony location)! It was a tough job, but someone had to do it. We're happy to report that the wine is delicious, and thus we brought an entire case of it home for further research. Now, after all that wedding hustle, we're doing what any good western New Yorker couple does on a Sunday: relaxing and watching the Buffalo Bills game! Go Bills! We'll be back soon with more updates! It was the summer of 2022, and Zack's kickball team was a player short. That's how he met Lauren, who subbed first base for the evening. The season wrapped up, but their paths crossed again at the team's Halloween party. While the room was filled with elaborate costumes, masks, and various characters, Zack came as himself, after an exhausting day at a funeral. He spotted Lauren, who was perfectly in character as a sleek black cat, complete with painted whiskers. The next morning, as Zack was replaying the night in his head, he decided to take a chance. Knowing she was in the team group text, he took a shot and guessed her phone number, and asked her on a date. To his immense relief, she said yes almost immediately. Their first date was at Iron Smoke Distillery in Fairport NY (where they now live) on October 25, 2022, a Tuesday evening. Zack picked up Lauren at her apartment, wearing a plaid shirt and pants, and held the door open for her. Lauren graciously accepted, herself wearing a green cardigan and jeans. The atmosphere was laid-back and lively, filled with the warmth of the lights and the low hum of conversation. They shared a whiskey flight, ordered cocktails, and relaxed on the plush furniture. Lauren asked Zack where he was from, and when Zack said Naples, Lauren thought he was from Florida! She has since connected with what Naples, NY has to offer. They spent the entire night just talking, and the conversation flowed easily. It felt effortless, as if they had known each other for much longer than reality suggested. It still feels that way today!
