A little bit about Amy: Originally from Fargo, North Dakota (because where else would a future marine biologist come from?), Amy always knew she wanted to study the ocean. At 18, she headed to Florida to earn her degree in Marine Biology, with a minor in Music, all while staying deeply involved in worship ministry at her local church. Naturally, the next step was becoming... a Flight Attendant. She applied while bored in her night class-true story! She moved to NYC and fell in love with it-after a few months of straight panic. While jetting around the globe and exploring her new home, Amy stayed rooted in her faith community, songwriting and leading worship with her church in NYC. New York is very special to Amy-Zach gets all the bonus points for choosing to propose there. Post COVID, she transferred to Chicago with the airlines and earned her Master’s in GIS—mostly from the airplane jumpseat—and landed her dream job in Ocean Mapping. Today, Amy works fully remotely, still flying for those unbeatable travel perks (and because who doesn’t love a good 2am wake-up call?) Now based in Minneapolis to be closer to family, she juggles her roles as oceanographer, Flight Attendant, traveler, and worship leader very well, despite not having lots of additional free time. She is most grateful that her travel benefits and job flexibility allow her to spend time with Zach, helping ease the challenges of long distance. She will be moving to Nashville next May and is excited for this next adventure and to get rid of this long distance nonsense. A little bit about Zach: Raised in the outskirts of Edwardsburg, Michigan (yeah no, you've never heard of it), Zach grew up on his family's farm where Faith and Family were everything. That's where his love of country music first started. Zach dreamed of living in Nashville from a young age and growing up in a musical family just made him want to pursue it even more. Zach started singing in talent shows at school in 6th grade, playing guitar at 14 and started serving on his worship team at church at that same time. But it wasn't until a pastor spoke into his life at 20 that he heard his call to vocational ministry. From there he attended Bethel University in Mishawaka, IN and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Worship Arts with a minor in Biblical Studies and began working at a church as a Worship Pastor before graduation. Then through a lot of twists and turns, and after having help plant a couple churches in Indiana, God Opened the door for Zach to move to Nashville, TN to help plant a church in the heart of downtown! The perfect opportunity to combine his call to ministry and his dream of music in the same place! Now, he serves as both the Campus Pastor and Worship Pastor of You Are Loved Church, while also chasing his dream of music by writing for other artists and and releasing his own music! Never in his wildest dreams did he think he would meet, let alone, fall in love with marine biologist/flight attendant who also leads worship and is so grateful that God brought her into his life and dreams of the day when they can have fun making music, traveling the world, and leading worship together!
I’d been single for seven years before Zach—first dates were rare, it takes a special person to keep up with me, (or WANT to keep up). In summer 2024, I joined Table Songs, a ministry for worship leaders and songwriters, and met most of the team at a September retreat—enter Zach. A friend mentioned he was single, but since he lived in Nashville, I brushed it off. Then, in the “romance capital of the world,” Clear Lake, Iowa, that same friend paired us up for a few tasks and to essentially spend the day together. By the lake, Zach shared his story and sang a brand-new song he wrote that day called “Lord Knows” (if you know, you know!) His talent, vulnerability, and joy stood out to me and I begrudgingly caught myself wanting to know him better. We really connected on the flight home. I moved over to sit by him to hear him better (I have awful hearing, but he thought it was a move), and we ended up in such deep conversation we ignored our friends on the same flight. This is when I thought, and I quote: "crap..." I then internally decided- “If he wants to know me, he can text me.” An hour later—ping. We’ve talked every day since. I am so grateful I get to marry someone who I can call my best friend, who loves me so well, and who wants to join me in pursuing a Christ centered and adventurous life.
Those that know me know I've been through hell in the realm of love. BUT God is kind- so fast forward to September of 2024, Table Songs Worship + Songwriting Retreat. At this point I had only seen Amy over a FaceTime team call, and a video she sent to the team group chat of her playing a mashup of a worship song and Lord of the Rings (nerd alert). I didn't know her yet but I knew I wanted to be friends with her cause she was fun loving and quirky. What I didn't know was the day we met in person was the day I would meet my person! From the moment she walked in her JOY and energy was infectious-I was drawn to it like a moth to flame. She's right, on the plane ride home, I 100% thought the "I can't really hear you, scoot over" was a total move! (I'm still convinced it was) I got so nervous because she was WAY OUTTA MY LEAGUE but she seemed to be interested as we were both lost in deep conversation. When I got off that plane, before I got to my car, I called my folks- I said "I met this girl, all I can say is I'm in trouble, pray for me!" and when I got home I texted her! And the rest is history! After a lot of vice memos, texts, calls, FaceTime's, airport pickups and drop-offs, we are here! And I am the most blessed guy in the world because next June I get to marry not only my best friend, but the woman who showed me what it means to love unconditionally!
