As told by Zach: Five years ago Zach walked into Lincoln Middle School as a substitute teacher wearing a full-sized burger costume with shaggy hair and pleated pants that didn’t quite fit. As he was checking out his sub folder at the end of the day, Monica Eddy (Lincoln Middle School's Office Manager), had two questions for him: 1. “Are you single?” “Yes” he smiled and replied. 2. “Have you met Ms. Wren?” What she Monica saw in Zach’s ridiculous costume, floppy hair and bad clothes as a potential match for Becca still remains a mystery, but somehow she knew they’d make a perfect pair. If you ask her, she'll say, "That day, Becca walked past right after I finished talking to Zach and I just knew! It's a God thing, I guess!" Still, she had her work cut out for her. Monica eagerly hunted for every minuscule and sometimes awkward opportunity to bring Becca and Zach together. She would offer Zach pizza and upon his excitement, coyly tell him to pick it up in Ms. Wren’s room. She would give up seats at staff gatherings and insist on them sitting closer together. One time, Monica was walking with Zach and dragged him on a detour to Ms. Wren's room to “deliver hall passes to her.” Not once in the six years since then has Monica had time in her hectic day to deliver passes to a teacher... Somehow, thanks to a lot of pep talks from Monica to Becca, a few lucky student interventions, and even despite several communication faux pa’s from Zach (something he will argue added to his “mysterious allure”), the two started dating. Almost seven years later, they have many adventures under their belt and stories to tell... because neither of them ever stops talking. (!!!) They've taken nearly 200 students through 20 character-building trips to the backcountry of Utah, spent a month backpacking several countries in Europe, built a deck on their house where they spend most of their time and, most importantly, gotten Zach a better haircut. If that's not love....
