This is one of our favorite food halls to go to in Denver. The pastries at Izzio Bakery are absolutely incredible (cinnamon buns are a must), High Point Ice Cream is one of our favorite ice cream places, and the different options of food and drinks are a must-try. Denver Central Market has something for everyone whether it's alcoholic drinks, charcuterie boards, ice cream, or vegetarian/vegan friendly options! Also in this area, you can find art in the different alleyways near the market which often attract a crowd.
If you're needing a mountain getaway, Vail is one of our favorite spots! Just down the road from where Xavier proposed, Vail has beautiful mountain scenery, ski lifts rides, restaurants, and shopping. Our favorite breakfast spot that we drive to the mountains for often in Vail is called The Little Diner.
Red Rocks is a fun must-see in Denver. As an open-air amphitheater, Red Rocks hosts a variety of concerts, workout groups, the infamous Yoga on the Rocks, and is home to many hiking trails. It's a nice trip if you're craving the outdoors and wanting to see a popular Colorado spot and possibly catch a concert in!
A historic spot in the heart of downtown, Union Station is somewhere we frequent almost weekly. Between the coffee at PigTrain, or across the street at Amante, and the food spots, Union Station is somewhere we always bring guests to. You can't go wrong with any of the food in the area ranging from Chinese street food to popular seafood. The Terminal Bar is excellent for small bites and tasty drinks. Oh, and there's also an ice cream shop in there.
Across from the famous Coors Field Ballpark, McGregor Square is downtown Denver's newest attraction that we (mainly Xavier) has visited often. McGregor Square is a 28,000 square foot area consisting of living space, a hotel, offices, and many restaurants with a 66 foot screen in the middle to watch the local teams play. Our favorite place to go is Tom's Watch Bar, with 150+ TV's and delicious bites, we can get stuck in there for hours watching sports. McGregor Square houses another food hall with a beer wall that you can refill at your leisure. Our second favorite place inside of McGregor Square is Tattered Cover Bookstore. Tattered Cover is a Colorado chain with every genre of book imaginable. We're big readers, so trips to Tattered Cover happen often. McGregor Square is convenient as it has good access to the middle of downtown. If you haven't figured out by now, Denver is a big walking city.
Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park is a beautiful area to drive through and stop for photo opportunities and good food! There are tons of hiking trails throughout and good restaurants to refuel at. If you're a horror buff like Jess is, you can also stop at The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, where Stephen King's The Shining was filmed. You can tour the hotel and even stay the night if you're feeling up to.
