I will never forget the day I met Mackenzie. I was running slightly late to class and almost did not go because of how cold it was outside. If you have ever had to walk to an 8 am class in Boone, NC in February you know what I am talking about. The building of the class was located at the top of about 12 flights of stairs in the LLC. As I traversed up the stairs I saw this girl in a huge jacket standing at the top of the stairs, and as I continued to climb the stairs I kept wondering to myself "why isn't she going inside it is freezing out here". Well I got to the top, and rushed by her to get inside and as I pulled on the door it became quite clear why she was standing outside, the door was locked. I turned to her and we began talking. It started with the simple pleasantries "What's your name?" "Mackenzie" and from there we just talked. Suddenly, I did not even notice the cold anymore we were just lost in conversation. Then the locked door was opened from the inside and the cold came rushing back to me. A professor opened the door and apologized for the door being locked on such a cold morning. We both went to class and I couldn't help but feel disappointed that our conversation was cut short. The entire lecture I could not focus and all I could think about was the cute girl in the big jacket, Mackenzie. As soon as the lecture ended I rushed outside to wait for her to walk by so I could strike a conversation again. I waited, and waited and finally she walked out. She glowed coming out of that door with her big blue eyes just piercing through that huge jacket. I waved, she saw me, smiled, and waved back. We walked all the way down the stairs together, talking about this and that. I invited Mackenzie to a concert that I was going to that night. She agreed and we have been best friends ever since. Since then, we moved across the country, and then moved across the country again. Our story feels so long already, but it is exciting to know it is only the beginning
