A local staple! The Galvin location, the brewery, is only open Friday and Saturday evenings and is only for 21+. Check out their deli and restaurant (open to the whole family) on Prather Road/Highway 99 for their famous sausage, cheeses, brews and gift shop!
Sprawling, open air, covered market filled with hundreds of vendors. Fresh cut flowers, the gum wall, flying fish, the best clam chowder, fresh produce, rotating local art and goods vendors and street performers offer a one of a kind, quintessential Seattle experience! ***Friendly word of caution: The market and waterfront are a great family experience! The market itself and the waterfront are generally safe. Be cautious when exploring beyond the tourist areas and down alleys as Seattle has a very prominent homeless population, especially in green areas and parks. The park next to the market is no exception.
A lesser known attraction outside of Seattle! Only $15 a person learn about kangaroos and wallabies from the resident expert then spend time cuddling, feeding and interacting with the creatures in the yard! If you're lucky you might meet a baby roo too. We love his responsible handling of the animals and respect for their needs while still providing a memorable experience!
Get a 5 gallon bucket of day old donuts for $20 or take your pick of their famous novelty donuts! Several locations and many treats to choose from. ***Friendly word of caution: Like Seattle, Portland is suffering from a massive homeless crisis. Best not to get too adventurous here, especially if bringing young ones. Chinatown and downtown as well as parks and green spaces are notorious for their homeless populations. Travel with care!
