Flight
Milan's International Airport (MXP) is the closest airport to Lake Como. It's about 45 minutes to an hour away by car, or just over an hour by train. If you choose the train option, the Malpensa Express is the best way to get to Lake Como from Malpensa airport. The train starts from both terminals and gets to Saronno train station in about 20 minutes, then you have to change and take the train which heads to Como Nord Lago.
Flight
This is a smaller domestic airport in Milan (Linate Airport) in case you are visiting elsewhere in Europe prior to the wedding. It's about 50 minutes to an hour away by car. However, sometimes flights can be cheaper/quicker to fly to this airport with a European layover. Check both LIN & MXP. If you don’t want to move by car, you can rely on the Starfly bus service, which connects this airport to Milan central station in 15 minutes. You can buy your ticket on board at the price of €5. From Milano Centrale, you can get to Como by train in about 40 minutes.

If you're looking to begin your trip in Florence, you can arrive by car or train. There are various ways to get to Lake Como, the easiest way may be from Florence to Milan which is about 2 hours and then a private car/bus from Milan to Lake Como. Or, there are other routes that require changing trains to get from Florence to Lake Como. For this you would start at Firenze Santa Maria Novella, change trains at Milano Centrale and arrive at Como San Giovanni. Prices are about $30-$50 depending on the route/seating preference.

If you're looking to begin your trip in Rome, you can arrive by car or train. There are various ways to get to Lake Como, the easiest way may be from Rome to Milan which is about 4 hours and then a private car/bus from Milan to Lake Como. There are other options going from Rome with one change of trains to get to Lake Como. For this you would start at Roma Termini, change trains at Milano Centrale and arrive at Como San Giovanni. Prices are about $40-$70 depending on the route/seating preference.
Train
For those starting or heading south towards the Amalfi Coast, you have a few options for travel. There is a direct train from Milano to Napoli which takes about 4.5 hours OR you can take a quick flight from Milan to Naples airport. Both are fairly inexpensive as it is travel within the country. Some options when booking may include an additional train or bus to Lake Como region from Milan. See the train option linked below.

They can be used to travel to the welcome drinks or the wedding ceremony, as both venues have private docks. Rental Car
There are taxis available at the airport once you land in Italy, however these can be expensive (€150 - €180 to Como). Instead, we recommend renting a car, though private transfers are also available (please see recommended services). Taxis are not as prevalent around the lake as you may be used to at home, and can be very expensive once you're in the Lake Como area. It is best to pre-schedule transportation or book a hotel with concierge service. Please note that Ubers are not available in Lake Como.
