Lake Como is a LOT bigger than it appears and transportation by car can take longer than expected, especially during high season. Traffic is very heavy during high season, please account for double the time to get to locations and book your accommodations accordingly. With that being said, we would highly encourage staying in Lenno/Tremezzo/Cadenabbia/Menaggio area as they are closest to the venues for our wedding events and also popular port areas for transportation.
We highly recommend downloading WhatsApp, as most taxi services use this as their primary form of communication. If you have any questions in regards to travel recommendations, logistics, or wedding accommodations please reach out to the concierge service provided by our wedding planners. You may contact them via WHATASPP or Email: +39 340 7512752 office@wow-wedding.com
You can get to the venue by: (i) driving in your rental car (please plan to have a designated driver) (ii) hiring a cab or private transfer (iii) private water taxi (iiii) our organized shuttle transportation We will have shuttle transportation running to and from the wedding. Stay tuned for more details regarding which hotels will be part of the shuttles route. If you are staying in Bellagio, do note that you will need to arrange your own transportation by boat (15-minutes). For those to not within walking distance of the hotels on our shuttle route, we suggest pre-arranging a private transportation service to take you home, as cabs can be difficult to find in the evenings and water taxis will no longer be running. For water transportation to other cities on the lake you will want to pre-book transportation to ensure they can accommodate at that time of the evening.
Unless there are additional spots reserved for you under the RSVP page, we unfortunately cannot accommodate additional guests due to strict marquee limits placed by our vendor.
All events will be outdoors. The weather in Lake Como in early-mid September is typically between 60 - 78 degrees Fahrenheit, so please dress accordingly. Daytime and evening have a vast difference in temperature, during the day it generally is warm yet comfortable. The evenings drop near the low 60's which can be a bit chilly.
While we love your little ones, our wedding/welcome party will be an adults-only event.
ITALIAN LAKESIDE CHIC. I would suggest colorful cocktail attire. Dark suit/tuxedo for men and gowns or midi dresses for women. Temperatures do drop at night, so please bring a jacket or shawl if needed. For men who prefer not to travel with a tux/suit check out the FAQ below with tuxedo rentals nearby. We ask that you please avoid wearing colors traditionally reserved for the bride (whites, creams, and ivories). If you need to rent a tuxedo there are many options both stateside and in Italy. A few suggestions in Italy for those who prefer NOT to travel with a rental are listed below. · La Nuova Sartoria (Milan) - https://www.lanuovasartoria.it/en/ · Il mio smoking (Milan) - https://www.ilmiosmoking.com/ · Lo Bosco (Milan) - https://www.lobosco.com/
We will provide an updated answer 1-3 months before the wedding and will send out an email to guests if there are any last minute updates on travel restrictions. Entry in the United States: - A COVID test is no longer required prior to entering the United States
Heads up! Booking your hotel should be at the top of your to-do’s. As a popular destination, hotels in the area have a limited number of rooms and are starting to book up. We highly recommend booking now, even if you don’t have your flight yet. Most offer a refundable and non-refundable rate if you need a little flexibility. On the travel page you will find suggested hotels in the area, we are working on having hotel room blocks updated ASAP due to the change in dates. Please be aware of the city that you book in as Lake Como is a LOT larger than it seems and not always the quickest getting from one side of the lake to the other without pre-arranged transportation.
The closest and most convenient airport is Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) or Milan-Linate Airport (LIN). If you are starting your adventure in another location, Europe & Italy’s train network make it simple to travel. From the airport or train station, you can book a private car or van (perfect if you’re traveling in a group). For private vehicles, we recommend mydaytrip.com. *See travel page for more info if you are starting from Florence or Rome* If you have RSVP'd to the welcome event, you will want to arrive in the Lake Como area by midday. You’ll have time to relax, sneak in a nap, or explore the area before the event begins. Most flights from the U.S. are overnight routes that leave the day prior, i.e. flights arriving on Saturday morning will depart Friday night. If your schedule allows, we highly recommend arriving by Friday, September 8th so that you have time to adjust to the time change.
You are able to rent a car in Terminal 1 at Malpensa Airport (MXP). For some, driving in a foreign country may be challenging, but if you’re up for the adventure, just be sure to make yourself aware of the rules of the road, watch your speed, and know that you’ll need to navigate through multiple narrows roads and towns along the way. It is nice to have transportation to get around if you are not comfortable with public transportation abroad. Check out all of the car rental options from MXP here: https://www.milanomalpensa-airport.com/en/from-to/car-hire
If your schedule allows and you do not mind making one, two, or sometimes even three transfers, it will only cost 15-30€ according to Rome2Rio. Using public transport will take 3x as long and will require a combination of train/ferry, train/bus, or bus/ferry, with a little walking in between however it is the easiest and most cost effective way to travel throughout Italy.
Absolutely not! First, we prefer not to receive any gifts. Your presence is more than enough and we are beyond grateful to anyone able to make the trip but we certainly understand if it is not feasible. Second, your luggage space is more important – we don’t want to lug it around Europe after our wedding, use the space to treat yourself to all the amazing souvenirs and shopping Italy has to offer!
