Kate and Austin met in one of the most romantic places possible, Kilroys Bar. Kate was actually living in Chicago at this time, but was in Indianapolis for a wedding. She was grabbing drinks with a group of friends post-wedding, and Austin was with his friends enjoying a night in Downtown Indianapolis. Luckily, Kate was good friends with Austin's crew that night, and these mutual friends introduced them! They spent the next 30 minutes chatting about jobs, family, Chicago, etc. That night, Kate was nice enough to invite Austin to her birthday party in her parent's backyard the next day. However, Austin did not show, with the excuse (given later in the relationship) that their mutual friend was unable to attend and it would have looked desperate. Kate heard that Austin was asking friends for her number the next day, so she decided to text him demanding an excuse for missing her birthday. The text that changed it all read, "Thanks for coming to my birthday party"... and the rest is history! Kate came back to Indy a couple weekends later and they went on their first date to Mama Corolla's. From then, they exchanged as many weekends as they could back and forth from Indy to Chicago. As much fun as it was for the two of them to live in Kate's Chicago studio during the week, they decided it was time to have a place of their own. Kate finished nursing school and agreed to move to Indy, as long as a puppy was promised in the near future. August "Auggie" Bogart WiningHawn was born and their family began!
