FAQs

The Wedding Website of Annie Wilson and Sam Getty
Everything you need to know (so you can just show up and enjoy) We've thought through the details so you don't have to ... just bring yourself, your dancing shoes, and maybe a rain jacket.
Question

What airport should I use?

Answer

For international guests, we recommend flying in and out of Edinburgh International Airport (EDI).

Question

Do I need a visa to travel?

Answer

Most non-UK/Irish travelers (including US citizens) need a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before flying. Apply online at gov.uk/eta or through the official UK ETA app. It costs £20 (about $25), and we recommend applying as soon as you book your flights.

Question

What currency should I bring?

Answer

Scotland uses Pounds (GBP). Cards are widely accepted everywhere in Scotland, so you won't need much cash on hand. Beyond a few light lunches during free time and the Cambo Bar at our reception, our goal is to take care of as much of the weekend as possible to make things as convenient as possible.

Question

What should I budget for the weekend?

Answer

You'll cover flights, your UK ETA, and your stay at Cambo (~£150 per person, per night). Once you're with us, we're taking care of nearly everything else - meals, drinks, and activities throughout the weekend are our treat. The only exceptions are casual lunches during free time and the cash bar after Saturday night's reception.

Question

When do I need to arrive, and when should I leave?

Answer

Please plan to arrive in Edinburgh on Thursday, October 8. We'll be gathering for casual drinks that evening, and arriving Thursday also gives you a buffer in case of travel delays. If Thursday isn't possible, just be ready for Friday's shuttle to Cambo. We will have a shuttle returning to Edinburgh on Monday morning (October 12).

Question

How do I get from Edinburgh to Cambo Estate and should I rent a car?

Answer

We've got you covered! We've hired a private coach from Edinburgh Bus Station at 2:30pm on Friday, October 9th, straight to Cambo (about 1.5 hours), We'd love for everyone to take the coach together. It makes getting to Cambo easy and means no one has to think twice after a dram or two. If you'd rather drive or take a taxi, an Uber runs about £130, and there is parking on-site... just give us a heads up so we can plan for it.

Question

Can I just come for just the wedding day?

Answer

We've planned this as a full wedding weekend because one of the things we're most excited about is bringing all of our favorite people together. We'd love for everyone to experience the whole celebration. If attending the full weekend truly isn't possible, please reach out to us and we'll do our best to find a solution together.

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

Our invitations are addressed to exactly who we're hoping will be there - if that includes a plus-one, they'll be named on your invite. We loved getting to hand-pick every person on our guest list, so thank you for helping us keep it as intended.

Question

Are children welcome?

Answer

With love, we're keeping this an adults-focused weekend. We're staying at a historic estate and want everyone, parents included, to be able to fully relax and let loose. We've made a few exceptions for immediate family, so if that's you, you'll already know (it will also be on your invitation). Otherwise, we kindly ask that this one be grown-ups only.

Question

Where is everyone staying, and what does it cost?

Answer

We're so lucky to have exclusive use of the entire Cambo Estate for the weekend, so everyone stays right on the grounds together. Cost will run ~£150 per person, per night, coordinated through our wedding planner, with details to follow.

Question

Since we are staying on site, do I choose my room?

Answer

We're taking care of room assignments, so you don't have to worry about a thing. Everyone gets their own room, and Cambo is arranged into wings with shared common spaces - kitchens, lounges, etc. - a bit like small apartments. We're grouping wings by friend group wherever we can, so you'll likely share those spaces with people you already know. If there's someone you'd love to be near, just tell us and we'll do our best.

Question

What if Cambo doesn't work for me... is there somewhere else to stay?

Answer

We'd love to have everyone on-site; it keeps the celebration going, keeps everyone safe, and every event of the weekend happens right there. If you have specific accommodation concerns, please reach out to us directly first and we'll help find the right solution together.

Question

What should I wear each day?

Answer

Keep in mind that we are in Scotland in October, so the weather is our fickle friend. We will be indoors most of the time, but worth noting as you make choices for outerwear and shoes. Please see the suggested attire for the weekend. Thursday: Casual night on the town in Edinburgh- jeans and a nice top, or a fun dress, whatever feels like you. Friday: Comfortable travel clothes for the morning, then elevate a notch for the whisky tasting and Scotland Supper Club that evening- smart casual, with layers as it cools. Saturday: Open morning. Dress for whatever you're up to. Then it's formal attire for the ceremony and reception. The party lasts all night and the dance floor is exposed to the outdoors, so please bring a light jacket for the evening. Sunday: Casual/athletic wear for the Highland games, with a change into something relaxed for the evening. Monday: Easy, comfortable travel clothes for the ride back to Edinburgh.

Question

Should I bring a kilt or tartan?

Answer

Entirely optional! If you've got one, we'd love to see it. If not, just dress well in whatever makes you feel great.

Question

What should I pack, beyond clothes?

Answer

Scotland weather loves to keep you guessing, so layers are your best friend. Bring a warm coat and something waterproof, plus comfortable shoes for grass and gravel. Don't forget a UK power adapter, and your kilt if you've got one. Be sure to plan for your open mornings, too... if you've arranged to golf on-site or in St Andrews, bring your clubs; if a walk to the beach (braver than we are!) is more your speed, pack a swimsuit.

Question

What about my dietary restrictions?

Answer

Please flag any allergies or dietary restrictions when you RSVP, so we can pass them along and make sure you're well taken care of all weekend.

Question

Will my phone/wifi work at Cambo Estate?

Answer

Yes! Cambo has wifi, and most guests find their phones work just fine across the grounds.

Question

I have a question that hasn't been answered.

Answer

Please reach out to the bride or groom if there's something we've missed. We are excited to share the weekend with you and we want you to feel prepared for a great weekend!
