How We Met

8 . 20 . 2010

Cynthia first crossed Will's path at Southeastern University thanks to coincidental mutual friends. With that gentle push, Cynthia found herself going on daily strolls with Will across SEU's tropical cobblestone campus. They couldn't seem to spend enough time together those first few weeks. It didn't take long for them to realize they were kindred spirits. "We instantly bonded over a unique mutual understanding of life and a love for chasing happiness."

Dating

9 . 22 . 2010

Will told Cynthia how he really felt about her on his 20th birthday. A week later, Will requested to meet Gale Flynn, Cynthia's grandmother, and asked her permission to date Cynthia. Gale, of course, gave him a FIRM talk, but then gladly blessed the request.

Promise Rings

9.22.2011

Will shared his intention to marry Cynthia and they exchanged promise rings. Before her passing, Will reached out to Gale one more time for her blessing to marry Cynthia. Gale was thrilled and gave him her original engagement ring with the hope Cynthia would like the sentiment.

The Proposal

9 . 22 . 2020

The day of their 10th anniversary, Will took Cynthia rock climbing in the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area in St. George, Utah. They had the place to themselves and hiked through slot canyons and amongst serene trails of butterflies and sparrows. Their last waterfall down-climb had some loose rocks and blind spots so Will offered to climb down, first, to help guide Cynthia where to grasp. At the bottom and out of sight, Will set up a camera as Cynthia followed his markings facing the rock wall. When she got to the bottom and turned around, Will was on one knee and holding her grandmother's ring in the air. "There will be many moments in our lives, but I hope this is one we'll never forget." He detailed how her grandmother had given him the ring and how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. "I loved you at first sight." ~~~ We can't wait to celebrate the continuation of our love story with each of you in person. See you on Star Island!
