Balcones Distilling
More than just Hannah's workplace, Balcones offers tastings and tours in their distillery. They have cocktails, beer, wine, and whisky as well as merchandise for any whisky fan. Their globally recognized, award winning spirits are delicious without breaking the bank, and all made entirely from grain to glass here in Waco.
Truelove Bar
In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, Hannah and Devon still have dreams about their nights spent at Truelove Bar, singing along to karaoke and drinking craft beer while they took turns playing Ms Pac Man. The back patio provides an escape from the noise to discuss tabletop games with friends, and a walk through the venue yields smiling familiar faces all around, as Waco's tightknit downtown community means you're never without a friend.
Dichotomy Coffee & Spirits, LLC; serving coffee drinks & craft cocktails
Every Sunday, Devon and Hannah drop into Dichotomy to enjoy some coffee, grab a breakfast burrito or muffin, and say hi to their friends at the bar. Dichotomy is nestled right into the heart of Waco's downtown and provides both coffee and spirits service. They also have the benefit of being directly across the street from Saturday's farmer's market!
Waco Cha
Hannah spends multiple days a week, after work, writing and knitting at Waco Cha. Her favorite drinks are the Thai Tea and the Wacoco.
Honky Tonk Kid BBQ
Best ribs in Texas. Vegan options. There's not loads more to say to convince you, but we could talk for hours. If you stop in on Saturday, don't forget to grab an order of Bacon Burnt Ends.
Crossroads Yarn
While not in Waco proper, Hannah would be remiss if she didn't include her favorite Local Yarn Store for her friends and family to check out. They have a wide variety of pattern books, specialty and small batch yarns, needles, and accessories.
Golden's Book Exchange
Golden's Book Exchange is the perfect place to get lost in stacks of paperbacks with yellow pages, and breathe deep the perfume of knowledge that is Book Smell. The proprietors are kind people who are welcome to let you peruse for hours and Hannah has a hard time leaving with fewer than three new books.
Cameron Park Zoo
People always say they're so surprised to learn that Waco's zoo is so nice, but Hannah and Devon are longtime fans of the zoo and their primate program. They encourage you to stop by with or without your little ones, to see the baby orangutan or the two-headed snake!
