We are so excited to be entering into the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony and are incredibly grateful for your love and support as we prepare for this important step in our lives. This celebration means the world to us, not just as a joyful occasion, but as a sacred moment of commitment before God, our families, and our community. Our wedding will take place at the Basilica of St. Josaphat, our parish here in Milwaukee, where we have continued to grow together in faith. We feel blessed to enter into the sacrament of marriage in the community that has become our spiritual home. Please explore this site for all the details you'll need as we approach the big day! With love, Sophia & William
We met while we were both students at Marquette University, William studying engineering and Sophia studying occupational therapy. William began attending events at the Catholic Newman Center at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee after his friend Vince invited him to check it out. Around the same time, Sophia was praying after Mass at Marquette when a missionary, Ellie, invited her to join a women's Bible study that was also hosted at the UWM Newman Center. It was there after a Tuesday daily Mass that Ellie introduced Sophia to William. Before long, we were attending daily Mass together back at Marquette. William would pick Sophia up for 7 a.m. Mass at Gesu Church, and many of our earliest conversations happened afterward while sitting in his car talking and getting to know each other. Our first official date was on Memorial Day Monday. We went for a walk on the Oak Leaf Trail, planned to attend Mass which was not being held due to the holiday, and had a picnic on campus. Later we visited Perpetual Adoration at St. Francis Borgia. On the way back we were so deep in conversation that William accidentally drove Sophia to his parents house on the very first date. Despite the surprise introduction, William says he already knew he really liked her and wanted her to meet the people who meant the most to him. Less than a week later we were officially dating. Over the next two years we spent nearly every day together, growing in friendship, faith, and love. On March 28, 2025, William proposed after morning Mass while on a trip with his family in Vero Beach, Florida. He arranged for Sophias family to surprise her by flying in, and we spent the weekend on the beach celebrating with both families. One of the great blessings in our story has been Fr. Andrew, the priest at the UWM Newman Center where we first met. He has walked with us through much of our journey and will also be presiding at our wedding at the Basilica of St. Josaphat. Our relationship began with prayer, community, and the Eucharist, and it is through Gods grace that we now prepare for marriage. We cannot wait to celebrate this sacrament with you.
