Check out Freshfields Village right off the island for great food and shopping. Our favorite dinner restaurants are Hege's (French), La Tele Pizzeria, or 48 Wine Bar (wine on tap!). For lunch we recommend Cafe Eugenia (sit down lunch or great pre-made to-go meals) or the Co-Op (sandwiches and salads). For coffee we recommend Java Java. There is a grocery store as well as hair and nail salon in Freshfields.
There are 15 courses within a 15-mile radius of Kiawah Island, 9 of which are public courses. We recommend reserving a tee-time as soon as possible as they book quickly. Recommended courses on Kiawah: Ocean Course (ranked one of the top golf courses in the country), Cougar Point, Osprey, and Turtle Point.
Bikes are a great way to explore the island during the day! Kiawah Island is a nature preserve and therefore no streetlights at night, so we do not recommend biking after dark. We recommend Kiawah Island Bike rental or Alligator Bikes if you are interested in renting.
