For music fans, we highly recommend the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (it's one of Cleveland's main tourist attractions, but deserves the hype). We recommend budgeting a decent amount of time for this because there's so much to look at!
This bustling indoor area staple has food vendors off all types. At the very least, its worth a peruse. Located in the popular Ohio City neighborhood, there's plenty of bars, restaurants, boutiques, and ice cream parlors within walking distance. If you go to Mitchell's just down the street try the sundae that features coffee ice cream. Great Lakes Brewery or Market Garden Brewery are a must for beer-lovers!
Fans of the seminal 80s holiday movie may enjoy a tour of the actual house where the movie was filmed! The Tremont neighborhood is incredibly special to Rob and Emily (and not just because our friend Eric lives right down the street.) Head to Fat Cats for a view of the city and fusion cuisine or to Treehouse for drinks. The Barrio patio is beautiful - order some guacamole and a Marigold margarita. This neighborhood is very walkable.
Really? A cemetery? Isn't a wedding supposed to be a joyous celebration of life?? For the those with a love of history, Lake View Cemetery is a can't miss. See the graves of U.S. Presidents, John D Rockefeller, civil war veterans, and various artistic luminaries and icons. Our favorite is Harvey Pekar. After, head over to Tommy's on Coventry for the best falafel and French Fries in the Land!
Have you ever wanted to sail on a retired military submarine? Take a self guided tour of this WWII legend that sank over 30,000 tons of Japanese steel during WWII. Morbid? Maybe. Fascinating? Yes! The USS Cod is nearby the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Great Lakes Science Center and the Browns stadium.
It may not look impressive to modern eyes, but the Terminal Tower was the tallest building outside of New York from 1927 until 1964 and was the 2nd tallest building in the world when it was first completed. The observation deck boasts lovely views of Cleveland and its green hinterlands. While you're downtown, head to Butcher & Brewer for some drinks and small plates or venture to Masthead Brewery, which is where Rob and Emily met for the first time.
Ok, it's not a real castle. But it might be the closest you can get to one in the U.S.A! Located in an area Metropark, Squire's Castle is a great hub for hiking, biking, jogging, picnicking, and all around outdoor fun! This requires a car to get to, but is within an hour of Cleveland.
