There are good ships, And there are wood ships, The ships that sail the sea. But the best ships are friendships, And may they always be. --- Lindsey and Matt met early in college at the University of Virginia and quickly became close friends. Over the next few years, their friendship blossomed over drinks at Fiji and kicking the soccer ball around at A Phi. When Matt's time at UVA came to an end, his parents asked him who he would miss most, and his answer was Lindsey. Lindsey also realized things would not be the same without Matt, so they tested the relationship waters during Lindsey's last year at UVA and Matt's first year in Washington, D.C. The couple spent another year dating long distance after Lindsey moved to Boston. However, they regularly visited each other, enjoying Fenway Franks at Red Sox games and taking scenic trips around New England. Lindsey then moved down to D.C., where she and Matt lived together for several years, always in search of the city's best views or places to eat. In early 2020, Matt took Lindsey on a date to Constitution Gardens, which quickly became their favorite quiet haven in the bustling city. A few months later, Matt brought Lindsey back to the Gardens, this time to ask her to marry him. --- As the old saying goes, the best ships are friendships. We are so grateful that our years as friends drew us together and that our friendship provided a strong foundation for the relationship we have today (keep an eye out for Matt's future book, How to Get Out of the Friend Zone). We can't wait to get hitched and celebrate our big day with the people we love!
