Well, let’s try this again! We’re in full planning mode for our June ‘22 wedding and we’re excited to celebrate with you! We hope you have had a chance this summer to get out of your homes, visit with loved ones you hadn’t seen in awhile, and have stayed safe and healthy. We hope this trying time has also brought you joy in other ways. This website is where you can find everything about our wedding, including where you RSVP. Click around, look at our new adorable pictures, read the FAQs for answers you might be looking for, check out some of our favorite things to do in Bend, and reach out with any questions.

In June 2022, we'll say I do!

January 2021 Update

Well, we're postponing. Yes we're bummed about it, but we're also relieved to make this decision. When we first talked about what we want our wedding to be like, our vision involved as many family members and loved ones as we could gather. Yes, it's about us, but we wouldn't be "us" without all of you! We want to hug you, dance with you, show you around Central Oregon if you have the chance to make it into a vacation, etc. Things will likely be a little better by June '21, but we would feel so incredibly sad if someone became seriously ill due to our wedding. We want to feel safe, we want you to feel safe, and we want to celebrate how we imagined. A year ago today, Ian proposed. June '21 seemed far away, but it has so far flown by. We know June '22 will be here before we know it!

How They Met

From Her Perspective...

Meghan (my awesome roommate at the time), and I went to the Old Mill District to grab some food and listen to the Avett Brothers. We were walking around and saw a group of people playing a game that involved bouncing a small yellow ball off a tiny trampoline. Neither of us were familiar with this game and stood there, probably awkwardly staring. One of the players walked up to us, stating that his name was Snail and asked if we wanted to play. We were like...Sure! Because this is normal in Bend, OR! We went on to learn the game is called Spikeball and to meet Rainbow, Crawdad, Cedar, and Laserhawk. Snail proceeded to tell us that they weren't a cult, but just a group of summer camp workers and those are their camp names. Fortunately for Snail, I'm well versed in summer camp and understood. Snail and I started talking about shared interests and mountain biking came up. I was still pretty new to Bend and needed to find some trails and someone to go with, so I accepted his number and found out his name was Ian. I reached out to him the next day, he ended up asking me on a date, and I decided to take a chance! We ate El Sancho tacos for our first date and walked barefoot in the park afterwards. For our second date, he brought me a plant. I was sold.

How They Met

From His Perspective

On the evening of July 22nd 2017, some members of my Tamily (Tamarack Family) decided to go to the Avett Brothers concert in town. We didn’t want to pay for the tickets, but there was a nice green lawn area just outside the concert where we decided to play games and hear the music. While walking to the venue, I noticed a beautiful girl walk by. I did a classic double glance but kept walking without saying anything. Luck would have it that a little while later that pretty lady was watching us play the game, trying to figure out what we were doing. I invited her to play, talked with her during the concert and gave her my number so she could give me a call if she wanted to hang out… I had my fingers crossed she would. The next day, she texted me and I asked her out on a date. Two days later, we went on our last first date ever and have been together ever since. I knew it would take a special person to understand my need to work and be outdoors, but I never imagined she would love the outdoors more than me. I’m looking forward to a lifetime of adventure with my best friend.

The Proposal

Just plan a surprise trip!

I, Jackie, had told Ian that I didn't want a ring, and to just plan a surprise trip. So, that's what he did! He told me to keep a long weekend in January open, and the night before we left he told me we were going to San Francisco! I love surprises, and I was so happy I didn't plan a single piece of this trip. We went to a Warrior's game, ate awesome food, walked a lot, explored the wharf, and watched the sea lions. After getting ready for dinner on our last night, Ian asked me to hand him his hat. I grabbed it and gave it to him, without paying attention to anything else. He tried to keep it light-hearted asking in a joking type way, "Hey what's that under the hat?" I thought he was playing a trick on me so wouldn't look, until he begrudgingly had to tell me with a serious face, "Seriously, just look over at the table." I then knew there would be some ring-like proposal token! Sure enough, there was a pile of silicone rings. He told me to pick one, he got down on one knee, he asked, and I said yes! We then got to celebrate with a night out - dinner, dessert, and a walk through Union Square.
