During 2016 Ben served as social chair for his fraternity (Kappa Sig) and Savannah was the social chair for her sorority (ADPI) . For those that don't know, that means we both were in charge of planning the social events -both internal and with other organizations. Adpi gals loved the kappa sig fraternity and really wanted to have an event with them as they were newly off probation. So Savannah reached out and got Ben's number and asked to plan something for the fall to which Ben agreed but had no idea as to what. In Savannah's version of the story, for the first 6 months of being social chair she would get random texts from Ben at all hours of the night with the most random ideas for a social event. Such as she remembers one night Ben texted her saying what if we have a huge roller skating party in the basement of the frat house, to which Savannah replied that sounds great where are we getting enough roller skates. Savannah assumes Ben didn't have any ideas as he would never respond to texts after that. These wild ideas continued until one day in September he said why don't we all dress up and have a party for the local orphanage. Savannah loved the idea, but being that the next month was Halloween they turned it into a truck or treat with the boys and girls club as Chattanooga didn't have a local orphanage. The event turned out to be amazing as members of both organizations were paired up to decorate their cars and everyone went all out with the decorations. 6 months later Savannah's friend Cailee Sinclair worked with Ben at Hutton Development and kept telling her that Ben liked her. Savannah didn't believe her as she hadn't really talked to Ben since that event. Well one night Savannah and her friends walked into one of UTC kids regular hangout spots- Jefferson's. It was a pretty dead that night, except for one big table of rowdy Kappa Sig boys (Ben and his friends). We all ended up sitting together, and eventually Ben came up to Savannah and asked if she wanted to go on a date on Friday. Of course she said yes, and he picked her up and really wowed her taking her to a really nice brand new Westin rooftop for dinner- fast forward 6 years later that would be the same spot he proposed in front of both of our families and friends.
