We recommend staying in the city center (Centro), which is convenient to events over the weekend and exploring the city. Jardin Allende is a central part of the city; try to stay within a 20-min walk of this landmark. See the map that Wes created on the Travel page, which highlights this central area. There are a lot of great boutique hotels and Airbnbs to choose from in Centro. We highly recommend groups of friends look at Airbnb options together! See the Travel page for links.
San Miguel de Allende is located at 6,234′ in elevation and is nestled in the mountains north of Mexico City. You might need some time to adjust to the altitude. Keep this in mind when hydrating and drinking alcohol. Sunscreen is important, as there is a high UV index. Expect bright, sunny days (70–75°F) and cooler evenings (45–50°F) with virtually zero chance of rain.
We recommend bringing a light sweater or wrap for the evenings. Flat shoes or block heels are crucial for navigating the cobblestone streets. THURSDAY WALKING TOUR If you chose to join us, please wear comfortable shoes! The cobblestone streets and hills are not heel friendly. FRIDAY WELCOME PARTY AT ZUMO ROOFTOP AT VILLA LIMON Attire: Cocktail Bites and an Open Bar to enjoy sunset views. Held outdoors on a rooftop. SATURDAY WEDDING CEREMONY AND RECEPTION AT CASA ADELA Attire: Formal. Suits and colorful, formal floor length dresses and jumpsuits. Ceremony held outdoors. Cocktails and reception will be in a courtyard with indoor gathering spaces. Bring a swimsuit and a dry change of clothes if you'd like to swim in our venue's heated pool. You can also swim in your clothes. Towels to be provided.
Shuttles will be provided to and from the venue - more information to come! Casa Adela is about 20 minutes outside the city.
When traveling it's always important to have your wits about you and your belongings protected. However, San Miguel de Allende is considered to be one of the safer and cleaner cities in Mexico. There is a large expat community here and the streets are well kept. We recommend bringing cash, ideally pesos, especially for shopping in the Mercado de Artesanías, which is cash only. There are safe and reliable ATMs in the centro and at most hostels if you would like to withdraw cash when you arrive. Remember to drink bottled water only while in Mexico.
San Miguel is known to be a safe and inclusive destination for LGBTQ+ travelers. (https://www.equaldex.com/region/guanajuato) There are many same-sex weddings at our venue.
Children are welcome at events throughout the wedding weekend. However, we kindly request that the wedding reception be an adults-only celebration. For guests traveling with children, please let us know if you would like more information about on-site childcare available at the venue during the reception.
